A couple of years ago on this forum a member talked about replacing the OEM Strain/Hammer Spring screw with a common Hex head screw found in a hardware store. Anyone recall that as I purchased an older K frame that someone had shortened the strain screw causing a lighter pull but misfire on harder primers. Yes I know about the primer trick but I want to fix it correctly. Thanks for your looking and help.

If your just looking for a strain screw I have stainless M66 ones and I can send you one. I have had a hex head for a strain screw in the past, if no one pipes in first I will check what I have and see if the ones I got recently for other things, fit.

Thank you, I will gladly pay for whatever screw you send. This screw is needed for a Model 19. Factory works just as well.

The strain screws I use on my guns are #8-32 x 3/8" long for round butt, or 1/2" long for square butt, hex socket set screws. That means they are headless. That makes them adjustable. You need to use either #242 blue or #222 purple Loctite to keep them from moving from where you adjust them to. Clean male and female threads with solvent, let dry, then put on plenty of Loctite and clean off any excess. You can adjust them any time you want to after that.

Stang it's for a square butt 66 thanks.Been gone for a couple days.

Thank you Protocall I will pickup some of those hex head screws and some loctite, for other K frames I have, that are aging.
