I recently just picked up a 629 Talo 3inch 44Mag. I am looking for a OWB Holster for this baby!! Everything I look at is for a 4inch, not many at all out there unless you have it custom made. Help!!
I just bought the same gun a few weeks ago. I bought a Galco Holster model SIL126. It's a brown, leather OWB belt holster. It will actually fit most any N frame S&W revolver with a 2.5 inch barrel or longer. I got mine from the Optics Planet website for about $70. Very nice holster. It also fits my 4" 29, 4" 27, as well as my new 3" Talo 629. I highly recommend it.
I'd order an Enhanced Pancake holster from Lobo Gunleather in a heartbeat. I have 'em for a 2 1/8" J frame and a 3" K frame and love the design and the quality. Delivery time is estimated at 4 weeks, and the new owners reportedly are producing the same high quality product that Ray Cory made for decades.
A 3" M29 rides nicely in an IWB holster too, and easier to conceal than in an OWB holster. I have a Sparks VM2 for a 3" N frame and another for a 3" L frame.
3" or 4" isn't going to be much different in an OWB. If the 3" doesn't wobble in a 4" holster, why spend the extra money on one barely shorter?
I use both an older Jackass Leather Co, shoulder rig for an N model for my N framed 3" versions...629, 657, and 625 and also I have a Lobo leather enhanced Avenger with no cant. At one time I tried a pancake made by Country Boy, but I didn't like it at all. The enhanced Avenger is very much like a Sparks PMK OWB holster but not quite as well made.
I have the same gun and had Lobo make a pancake OWB holster. Well worth the few weeks wait time.
BTW, ditch the grips when you go to the range if you like the skin on your hand....

I've carried a 3" 629 for two years now in a simply rugged pancake with the real mans belt. With a gun of that size, you're going to want a heavy duty belt too.
