I've been searching online and I see prices that range from $565 to $650 for a new one. The average being right around $600. It's hard to come across used ones.

I want to add an optic and I know those range from $280 for a JPoint to $490 for a Trijicon RMR.

In total I'm looking at $845 - $1090. Is this a good price for this weapon system setup?

Also, I'm not sure whether to go for the 5" or the 4.25" barrel. Thoughts?

If you can get a M&P CORE for under $600 you're doing great. They have only been out about a year so finding a used one would be slim. If you are going with optics then the barrel length would simply be a matter of balance. I like the 5" guns but I am just using the open sights so the extra sight radius helps.

Are you sure the $560 is for the Pro CORE and not just a Pro?

I'm about to put my 5" up for sale, if the current buyer backs out I can PM you if interested.

I'd recommend the 5", I prefer the balance. If you can get a Core for $600, jump on it. The reason it's hard to find used ones is that no body wants to get rid of them. I bought mine in June of last year, I have around 35K rounds through it, no problems ever. Of course your figure of the complete "system" doesn't account for anything other than the pistol and the reflex, there are always "other" things to buy (barrels, triggers, extractors, special holsters) keep in mind that putting an optic on puts you in the open class in any of the sanctioning organizations (except IDPA which doesn't allow any optics;)) . I use the Deltapoint. The Core's come with coupons for various optics but I found the Deltapoint cheaper than the coupon. The Delta and the Jpoint are (from what I've heard) are the only ones that co-witness with the iron sights. I passed on the JPoint for a couple of reasons. 1. It has a plastic lens and the lens will get covered with blowback and has to be cleaned every couple of hundred rounds, I've heard that the plastic lens scratches easily. and 2. the JPoint isn't waterproof and I have matches outside in all kinds of weather. JPoint makes some hoods and shrouds but I feel more comfortable with a waterproof sight. I have a lot of fun with the Core and the reflex, I don't think it will ever compare with a 38 super comp race gun, but then it doesn't cost $10K either, besides, I'm to old to try and run around like those young bucks. It's all fun.

Yep, sounds good. PM me if the deal falls through.

I just picked up a Pro Core 40 with a 5" barrel from my local dealer. It was almost $700.00 with sales tax. I really wanted the 9mm but he hasn't had many come thru. He had two 40's.
Still undecided on the optic, I'll probably shoot it for a while as is and pick up an optic this Summer.

Cool. Please make sure to provide us with updates on which optic you choose to go with.

BudsGunShop has the 5" Pro C.O.R.E. 9mm for $607 with Free Shipping and no sales tax. They have the .40 for $601. Could've saved you some $$. :o

If you go to GunBroker you'll see 5-10 listed for between $550 and $615 for the 4.25 & 5" Pro C.O.R.E. 9mm. There are lots of .40's, but the 9mm are lower in quantity available.

I just went to Buds and he is higher than that. Cash price is $613 and retail is $631.

I'd get the .40L then you can buy a KKM barrel later and have two guns for the price of one+barrel+magazine.

Sorry, I was referring to the 4.25" Pro C.O.R.E. 9mm. That one is $607 with Free Shipping and no sales tax. It's $625.21 retail. The 5" is $613 and retail is $631.

The .40 is only $568 for the 4.25" and $607 for the 5"...waaay below what Scott55 paid.
