Hi all,

I'm looking to get myself a Bushnell TRS 25 for my 15-22. It's quite expensive locally so I'm looking to source one from the US in an attempt to save myself a bit of money.

I've seen them selling for roughly 50USD. However, all those stores do not ship overseas.

Does anyone here know of any vendors/online stores that have the required permits and are able to ship to South Africa?

Would appreciate it if you guys could give me some leads.

Thanks

Is it an ITAR regulated item? It is my understanding that not all optics are. Did you try Buds Gunshop? MidwayUSA? Ebay?

I don't have one, but it looks like an average Chinese made red dot. Alibaba might yield a maker in China who would ship direct.

These guys claim "OpticsPlanet specializes in shipping internationally and aspires to make the process as simple as possible for our customers. Most of our products can be shipped to almost any destination worldwide."

However, your expectation of getting it for $50 seems overly optimistic.

cant ship high tec optics out of the country good luck with that.they will take away your birthday.

Watch out for Alibaba.....

If something messes up, Alibaba is awful.

Some of the optical shops in NYC might deal internationally because EVERYBODY wants to buy stuff there for their prices and expertise.(They'll TELL you what you want)

B&H is one I've had good luck with and Adorama is good too. I think B&H sells all types of optics.

I used to buy camera stuff from NY. There are some outfits that you DON'T want to deal with. They are horribly pushy to get you to buy something you don't want, like package deals, that aren't what they are cracked out to be.

I'm glad you got it.

I think the factory in Sweden will ship to you if you want a Fallkniven knife, but they charge list price. US dealers are often much less. Victorinox also probably ships their Swiss Army knives. I know those are available there, as another member has some he got in, I think, Cape Town. But the factory may be cheaper.

I see that you are a policeman. Do you carry the Z-88 version of the Beretta M-92? Something else? Must you carry an issued pistol, or are there options?

We don't have many South African members. I think you're one of three. I've met a number of your countrymen and know about a couple of famous models from there who work here and a famous movie star. I've read a lot about history there and helped answer questions about SA in a booth rented by the consular officials based in New Orleans. This was before the changes that took place about 1995. I have a small example of the old flag on a bookcase in my home. My visitors never guess what it is. I always must explain the little flags on it and the meaning.

The consulate men gave me a case or two of Castle beer and a subscription to, "SA Panorama." Is that beautiful magazine still published?

I've followed the Oscar Pistorious trial. It'll be interesting to see how that ends, with the prosecutor having appealed the verdict, something not done in the USA. Saw the pistol he used in the news, a stainless Taurus 9mm.

My username is misleading. I'm not a police officer by any means though I do have a few close buddies who are in the force.

The Z88 is the standard issue for most units with the Beretta PX4 having been introduced in recent times. I don't know that there are M92's in use but it's possible.

As for Oscar, that idiot has created a lot of problems for legal gun owners in SA. His actions has given the anti-gun movement the ammunition (pun intended) for it to continue its offensive against gun ownership in SA.
