And, if you take that $ you saved from buying a Sport, you could buy yourself a 15/22 also, which you'll enjoy ever bit as much, but won't be throwing $15 per mag downrange every time you go to the range.

The easiest way to stop throwing $15 downrange with eacg magazine is to shoot 10 - round magazines at the range!

Or find cheaper ammo
I am not sure about where you are but its about $7 for 20 here.

Great choice on the Sport. Here is a pic of mine. I added a Knights Armament quad rail I got off Gunbroker for $100, a Primary Arms optic for around $100 and that's pretty much it for major improvements. All said and done I have $ 900 in it. Not bad.

I can get steel cased tulammo for $5.25 a box at my lgs or Wally world. CTD sells it online, 500rds for $115.59 plus shipping. i just picked up a 100rds today for around 30 bucks. Wally world was selling brassmax 223 a month ago, 50rds for $16.

What about an M&P15 OR (ORC for compliant states)? It has the dust cover, forward assist, and more chromed parts. It does not come with sights though which I didn't mind because I got to add which ever ones I wanted anyway.

Wally world mostly but LGS is coming down though they are up around 40¢ a round, federal, priv, magtech (I think) and a few others I have seen. Steel tula is under $6 for 20.

John45, now that you have a fine carbine on lay away check out PSA for ammo deals....they have some killer deals right now, some with p mags and most all of it brass cased.

I've put about 150 rounds of it downrange. It's not bad. I'd rather plink with the least expensive steel case bi-metal jacket, but I can't. All the ranges within reasonable distance to me prohibit steel case ammo.
