came across enough brass to get a few hundred 41 mag stuffed.

I've got 210 and 215 and 245g SWC cast lead.

Would like to find a Bullseye load that gives around 1000 fps and 1/2" at 50 yards from the bench from a nice Ruger New Model 7 1/2" that's got a red dot scope on it.

So far I've loaded titegroup, Trail Boss, a bit of Unique and a little Clays.

I'm looking for some sweet range loads more than top end stuff.

Oh....there was a few 2400 rounds....come to think of it, they might have had better groups....

So share them recipes if you've got 'em boys. I got to feed a few 4" 41 mags too.

Hi,

If you mean you want a load using Bullseye powder to 1,000 fps it may not be possible. I do know several manuals list Bullseye loads to that velocity but I was never able to achieve it with any .41 or .44 Magnum loads without high pressure signs.

However all guns are different so it may be worth the try.

I have found that any S&W revolver is capable of accuracy to within 2 1/2 inches or less with the correct powder. However the correct powder varies as much as the variety of S&W revolvers. I have had good loads with just about any powder available, it just depended on the revolver.

Groo here
I have found that a full or near full case of Trailboss [up to bullet]
works for a "police load"..
Hint : use a Heavy crimp and Winchester or magnum primer...

I'm a rookie at this but my 4" Model 57 likes 8.4, 8.8, 9.1 Unique under several 210 gr bullets. The first two are pretty mild shooting. The gun is way more accurate than me.

For years my favorite has been a 210gr or so, cast bullet and 7.0 of Unique. It may not have the velocity you want, but you can increase to 8.

Good morning
I am very inclined to Unique. First powder I used after the army and I still buy it by the gallon jug.
The 245 grainer I would go with 7 - 9 grains Unique. About 7.5-8 will get you the 1000 fps. Will be very useful for any thin skin hunting. You can use the same charges with any weight cast bullet. Just be sure the bullet is a snug fit through the cylinder mounths. If they are undersized you will not have a good seal. Too fat by .001+ is not a problem.

thanks for the comments gents.....I'll be doing some loads this afternoon after my chores are done.

I've managed to let my Unique supply dwindle to 'not much'.....so other powders are going to be called to service.

While I really like Trail Boss and shoot it exclusively in my 45LC cowboy loads, it is such a soft recoil I've become suspicious in such as stout 44 mag or other upper end loads. It always gives me adequate accuracy out to 50 yards, which for my own casual large-targets up close use has been excellent.

Putting it on paper at 25 and 50 yards, I'm looking for "minute of apricot" accuracy or better.

I have had great luck with 6.5gr of Tite group and a 215gr LSWC. It chronographed a little over 1100 fps. Recoil was light and accuracy is great.
