Hi all, newb here. I had put a scope on my 686 way back when for turkey hunting and want to go back to iron sights. I have a 686 no dash with 8 3/8 barrel sn ACZ8128 and having difficulty finding a replacement sight assembly. The center-to-center dimensions as shown is the shorter 1.775" offering. I put an add in the WTB but will buy new if I can find a source. Thanks for looking.

Just as replied on your WTB posting, I will send you a PM, as I think I have one that will fit.

The earlier (older) guns have a square front to the long tang on the sight. Those are harder to find. The newer style are rounded at the front and can be purchased from midway, brownells, midwest gun works etc. brownelles has good online diagrams with part numbers.

Even if you can find one from a different length barrel gun the rear sight blades can be changed and are not that expensive. The left/right adjusting screw needs to be broken to change the blade so you need that too, best bet is a rear sight blade kit.

Yes, thank you. I need the square front type with square elevation nut and correct c2c dimension from elevation screw to forward screw. I'm quickly learning that these are very difficult to find. Brownell's shows five different rear sight assemblies for the L-frame 686 no dash and none of them look like the part I need unless pictures are not accurate. I've ordered two so far and neither is correct.

I think you're in luck, as the extra I have matches your drawing -- with the squared front. I will add 2 pictures to the PM I sent you.

Tight groups.

If the one from Old No7 proves not to be the correct one, Hamilton Bowen makes his Rough Country rear sight in an undrilled, square tang variety.

Adios,
