Looking for the right pistol

I started with a MP45 (a little big) then I carried the Ruger LCP (a little small) and now I carry a J frame (just right). I guess you can call me Goldielocks.

As you are a revolver guy and you said any suggestion,I will recommend a look at the S&W Model 340 PD Airlite. It is incredibly easy to carry and accurate at self defense ranges. No fun to shoot 357, but if you practice with it, it will do the job when you need it.

For a single stack in 45acp, the full size Sig P220 is one of the best out there. My older W. German model is accurate and reliable. Later models used to come in carry and compact models, as well. In 9mm, the P6 (P225) is a great choice. It's essentially a smaller version of the 220. I much preferred it over the 239, which I sold. Once again, my P6 is an older W. German model. I'm a big fan of DA/SA, hammer fired semi-autos, especially classic ones.
