I am looking to complete a cased Model No. 2 and would like to get a cleaning rod to add to it.
I have included a pic of the type cleaning rod I'm looking for. Unfortunately the Model No 2 in the pic is not mine.

If anybody can help, please send me a PM. Thanks.

Best regards,
bcowern

I’m a newbie around these.
But the cleaning rod is, Wow incredible. Looking at it.. it appears to Me that the Hardwood?, dowel, Handle might actually? Have a “thread cut” in the Wood? that screws into the tip.
I guess that’s one question?
I’m curious ,, must be pre 1864?
Wow and good luck in your search

The tip might screw into the dowel. I don't know.

The Model No.2 was produced from 1861-1874.

I'm not sure when the No,2 in the pic was made. It is not mine. If you knew the serial number you could make a guess as to when made.

The tip screwed into a brass fitting fastened to the wood dowel. Not sure yours was a S&W case, since it appears to be a French style case, often available from distributors and of course done in France as well. S&W cases were not fitted, but rather had compartments the shape of the revolvers.

I am again reminded what a tremendous source of information this Forum is for those interested in antique Smith & Wessons.

The willingness of the members to freely share their knowledge is very much appreciated.

Still looking for the right cleaning rod.
