About 3:00 AM I heard a crash out in the hallway and didn't think much of it then I heard two really painful cries comes out and I jumped up and found my little buddy Travis on the floor of the hallway not moving. Apparently he was on one of his high up perches and jumped off in the dark and either hit the wall or the door jam and broke his neck. He died a few minutes later. He was my little buddy, he would lay on my chest to go to sleep at bedtime and lay on my lap to watch tv with me. He was such a gentle and friendly cat, I used to joke about him being such a scaredy cat being skittish and running from the vacuum, but he would go and do the fearless climbing and jumps like this. Needless to say I didn't sleep much the rest of the night. I miss him, I'm just glad that he didn't suffer.

I know this is a tough time for you. What a handsome guy he is. Is. I know he will be in your heart forever. Losing our little family members is a real downer. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Very, very sorry for your loss. You didn't know your pal was on life #9 when he came into your life. We have a Siamese mix who is cross-eyed as hell. What the cat's brain will do in these situations is ignore the visual signals it gets from one of its eyes, and most cats will do just fine with that - but it effectively kills their sense of depth perception. "Elvis" survived a fall from a 2nd story balcony when he misjudged a jump a few years ago. Required a trip to vets, a shot of Decadron (steroid) and a lot of loving. I don't know what his life counter is set on, but I told him, you're down by one, pal. Best of luck to you and yours, and again, my condolences.

Regards,

Dave

That is heart breaking. At least he had his buddy with him when he passed.

He'll be waiting at the bridge. There is another critter out there that needs someone's chest to sleep on.
When the time is right, go find him.

Cats aren't always every guys or gals 1st choice in a pet, but they make better pets than some know. And, smart doesn't even start to describe some of them.

Sorry for your loss,

So sorry to hear of your loss. It's shocking when they go so fast, but at least it wasn't long and drawn out. My Simon kitty passed about 2 1/2 years ago from a rapid onset kidney disease. I still miss him an awful lot. My thoughts are with you.

Sorry for your loss bud. My heart goes out to you. Lost two dogs a year ago and still miss 'em.

I've seen several recent threads of this nature. My truck forum has an off-topic / lounge area Pet Memorial thread for all to post in on an on-going basis. Maybe we outta start one here in the lounge?

Bummer! So sorry to hear of your loss. At least you got to be there and be the friend you have always been. Your memories and appreciation will keep him happy where he is now..............

Very sorry. We lost a little guy in a similar fashion 2 years back. She was blind toward the end and fell down a small stairway. Had just taken her for a truck ride, so she had a nice last day. Now I've gotta go cry some more.

So sorry for your loss. Pets are special and soon becomes a family member and when they leave us it is terribly sad but you will see him again.:(

I've been sad all day since I first read your post this morning. My little buddy, Oreo, looks as though he and your Travis might have been from the same litter. Very sweet animals. Tonight, as Oreo sleeps on my chest I will be thinking of you and your lost pal.

Look for Travis, he will be waiting for you at the Bridge.

Bob
