Loudest most obnoxious.357 Mag off the shelf

A full house handload with the lightest bullet you can find over H110

Funny, you should mention it. I used to shoot a 125 gr jacketed hollowpoint over ( if I recall correctly) about 21 g of H110, which was a compressed load. I shot pins and jugs with it out of my 6” Python. It was not kind to the gun. But it helped me learn to pretty much ignore recoil.

Yes they do...

When shooting in an indoor range I always use both. My ears hurt if I don't and I don't need to lose anymore hearing than I have already.

Unless I'm shooting only .22 rimfire, I alway use both plugs and muffs. Works very well. I tried electronic some years ago and quickly went back to the simple and most effective method.

ChopperGuy: Regarding the term "...perp would be scalded..." IMHO you have obviously forgotten that in these days that would no longer apply...?

There are no "perps" anymore: this is now a class of presumed innocent individuals (formerly referred to as "suspects") who now have to be established (by the media) as VICTIMS as they have yet to be indicted, arraigned, tried and found guilty (by a "jury of their peers"?) and sentenced (much less given a plea deal and a suspended sentence?), &, as such, are free to initiate any civil action they choose against the presumed guilty, brutal, jack-booted law-enforcement criminal who so obviously used excessive force against little ol' them!

Sheesh! You'd think you would get it right by now?

Cheers!

The loudest nastiest 357 I ever had was a Colt SAA 4 5/8 inch. It was just a nasty gun to shoot...the fact that it would occasionally pierce a primer didn't help. Another nasty one was a 3 inch M-60 357. Not much fun.

I had a 3" M60 for a short time. Much too much recoil with magnum loads. Not at all a practical gun. I don't recall accuracy, but I probably didn't shoot it well anyway. Also had a 5" version at the same time. Not much different from the 3" gun.

UMC 125 gr JSP.
This might be what I was thinking of. I know it was Rem or UMC but I was thinking 140 grain.

A 6" GP100 with a full underlug is a tank. There aren't many loadings that make you really take notice. These produced a sharp recoil and a crack you feel through the earpro. Fearsome muzzleflash and concussion. But the worst part was the frame cutting I noticed after 12 or so rounds. I pulled the rest.
Now that was 25 years ago so maybe they have toned them down a bit.

I gave my opinion on who h factory ammo you might want to try in Post #25.
BUT
It's too bad you don't reload. If you really want a muzzle flash for the ages a full charge of W296/H110 will put a huge smile on your face. I have been told some of my reloads push out a flash of up to 4 feet or more. You can find countless videos on YouTube showing it.

I hope you find what you're looking for. Like I said above, Magtech and S&B are fairly obnoxious lol. (why did you say you want flash, boom and smoke?)
