Last weekend I picked up an M&P 9mm pro series. Never new that a stock M&P was capable of having a good trigger.
Took it to the range and out shot my fiance's 1911 with it at 10 yards. Very much in love with the gun, so I ordered a few extra mags and the APEX RAM and Poly FSS for it.
Yeah, I know I praised the trigger and then immediately removed it, before you jump on calling me names, hear me out.
I traded off my Glock 21SF, that despite much trying and even dumping a $200 trigger kit into, I could not make myself happy with it. I traded the gun and 4 mags (without the $200 trigger) straight across for a M&P 45. I took that gun home and immediately took it apart. I was a bit confused on APEX's website, as they list a separate sear for the 9/40/357 and 45 pistols, yet the FSS kit works in both. So I said the heck with it, I have an amazing sear sitting in my parts box. Pro Series sear went in, and dry firing the gun, it feels AWESOME. The reset is a bit faint, but pushing on the right side of the slide stop makes it feel more distinct, so I will probably be ordering an updated slide stop lever, with the bump on the inside, for this gun.
I already can tell I am much happier with this gun than I was with the Glock, and I don't even mind losing 3 rounds of capacity for the slimmer and more comfortable M&P grip. I actually used the small CORE backstrap I had laying in the drawer on this gun and it is just as comfortable to hold as my Pro 9mm with the medium CORE backstrap.
Time to look into a set of night sights, possibly the AEK trigger and maybe the ultimate striker block...down the road.
