LPA low profile adjustable rear sight

Greetings!

I am about to adapt an inbound Glock to be my iron sight match pistol for GSSF matches, and I hope to get a little advice.

And yes, I know that this is a Smith forum and Glocks aren't target pistols. That said, Glocks have been benevolent to me this year!

I have been using a G17.5 MOS exclusively for my Civilian Amateur division matches this year, solely because I was tiring of lengthening my shooting day by installing and removing the optic at each of the 3 stages. For next year, my MOS version will always wear it's Vortex Viper, and the new 17.5 will wear an adjustable rear sight.

I am looking at installing an LPA low profile adjustable sight, and I was wondering if anyone here has had experience with this particular brand and model. Particularly, is this sight relatively durable? I am leaning towards the low profile version, so I can still utilize the factory front sight, so the pistol can also be used for an occasional IDPA match.

MMC is still much in business........Go to Sights Inc. Miniature Machine Company – Miniature Machine Company. They have a neat rear adj. sight for autos.

Looks like it's not the original MMC, but a re-boot of the brand, at the moment they only have rear sights for 1911 pistols.

I hope that what their websites says comes to fruition: MMC will once again produce sights for the 1911 (Novak cut), Glock, Sigarms, S&W, H&K, Browning, Kimber and Kahr pistols that were previously offered by the company.

I have had a low profile LPA rear sight on my 2nd gen G22 for decades, and it's been durable and reliable. Installing it was... challenging, a good sight pusher is a must in my opinion.

The original MMC was in Deming, NM and would be about 80-100 years old by now. Back when Skeeter was starting his gun career, they did a lot of work for him. Somewhere I have one of their "miniature adjustable" sights that was originally intended for a 1911, but which I hoped to mount on one of my High Standards, a project that was somehow never completed.

I have an LPA Adjustable Rear sight on my Glock 17 Gen 3. The gun is set up to shoot Production Class IPSC. The sight works well.

I have this LPA sight on a CZ 97BD. Between the CGW "E" conversion, the 1911 style bushing installation and this sight, this is one very accurate pistol. The sight is well made, sturdy and works well with the factory original front sight.

I have Dawson Precision adj on my XDM with a F/O front it is great. Does IDPA not allow fiber optic, they have night sights and plain black also. I have Heinie fronts on my glocks they work fine.

I would suspect that IDPA DOES allow fiber optic sights; however, the point I had hoped to convey was that while this G17.5 would be used for GSSF matches, I would like to retain the ability to continue using the holsters that I already possess. I felt by being able to retain the factory height front sight, I would be able to continue using the holsters I have on-hand.

At the moment, I see this incoming G17.5 as being the backup to my P320 when I participate in the Adaptive Defensive Shooting Summit, and any IDPA-style matches I may attempt.
