Lubrication

Butt crack spackle is even gummier than plumber's putty.

I actually use TriFlow dry film, they grey labelled stuff.

I found that oil in our climate just didn't do the job. With the short slide travel, you really want some good lubrication.
I use DuPont Teflon grease or Rig +P on my rails. Really does the job...
The best way to apply: I use cosmetic cotton tips: pointed end & flat end....

On my stainless steel PPK/S, I use a teflon and silicon light grease on the slide rails, to prevent galling. I use a light oil on the rest of the gun.

On my blued steel PPK/S, I just use light gun oil.

It's been my experience that the Walther PPK/S's, like the metal framed S&W's like to run a bit 'wet'. Sig-Sauers are the same, while Glocks seem to 'like' very little lubrication.

I've never figured out how Glocks do this, but I have heard of malfunctions, FTF, due to oil in the striker channel.

Short recoil, blowback pistols depend on high slide velocity to operate, so some amount of lubrication is necessary.

i add wd-40 all over the gun (inside & out) and wipe it down with a towel, then spray it againt and let it dry.
