Luck at the pawn shop

I fired my first pistol shot in 1957 with my cousin's 44-40 Colt. Until today, that was the only fix sighted revolver I had ever shot. Consequently, I was not prepared for the events of this morning when the model 10 and I went to the range. First off, I wasn't surprised to discover that it was just as accurate as the elderly model 17 and model 28 that accompanied us. However, I wasn't prepared for the fact that with my home cast 150 grain semi-wadcutter reloads the model 10's elevation is precisely on point of aim at 25 yards and that it shoots exactly 0.8 inches to the right at that range. Most of my adjustable sighted guns can't be clicked in any closer. This is going to be fun.

Gorgeous Model 10! Yeah, definately not an LEO trade-in. That stayed in someones drawer or closet, protected from prying eyes and greasy fingers. Great score!

To think that back in the '60's and '70's they were orphans and selling for about $100.....a dozen. Now you can't find them! Good for you!

The reason the dash number came up is because the even numbers -2, -4, -6 etc are all heavy barreled guns.

The odd numbers, -1, -3, -5 etc. are standard or "pencil" barreled.

My 10-5 was my first gun and still my favorite shooter...
