LVsteve's PO on shooting lizard reminded me of shot I made.
All the guys on ridge would come down our place after milking
chores were done in evening. Lay in grass on bank by mailbox
and BS. One evening after dusk/dawn lites came on, we noticed
something crawling up guy wire on lite pole,on other side of road.
Luckily I had my trusty K-22. I touched it off. We all went over
to see what it was. Turned out to be big Lunar Moth. We took it
up to house to give to my mother in law, who bragged she could
cook anything we shot. She. Ran us off. No southern fried moth
from her.

Aw man.....

Luna moths are beautiful. When I was a kid sitting on a cold sidewalk in front of a grocery store early in the morning folding my newspapers, there was a dead luna moth near me on the side walk. It was big. Must have run into the store window or something. At least I thought it was dead. As I sat there folding, it started to shake. In a few minutes it started to twitch and move a little. Then it like got on its feet. After another few minutes it just rose up into the air in front of me up and up. It was a sight. A real OOOO AHHH moment. Just a little thing, but I'll always remember it.
