M-10 blows up using "older" reloads

Did anyone read the guy's comments on YouTube? He states the gun is a Model 10 or 15. He doesn't even know what it is. He needs to do us all a favor and take up underwater basket weaving or needle point or something that has nothing to do with guns. His complete lack of knowledge is going to deplete the supply of old revolvers, even the off brands, for the knowledgable and deserving.

He already has another hobby. If you check out his other youtube videos, you'll see he builds model houses out of toothpicks. He also has a side job as a commentator on tobacco taxation, which he thinks is discriminatory because alcohol is not similarly taxed. (Seems to me his knowledge of "sin taxes" is no more reliable than his knowledge of firearms and steel strength.)

My personal opinion is something like this thread should never even have been posted here. The OP posted it like it was a true and accurate info he was passing along. As such, it is very unfair to the companies that were being portrayed as having inferior products. I own a business and posting this kind of stuff would seem to be a libelous act.. more people like this should be held accountable for their frivilous actions. And I'm speaking of the OP and whoever posted the original videos.. We've already seen at least one person question whether their gun is junk..

I think you need to lighten up buddy. I thought this thread was quite interesting myself. It's funny that the OP posted the links to the videos and few sensible people watched them and put their heads together and figured out pretty quick that the halfwit that made the videos was a fraud. If one person watches a video on youtube, or anywhere else for that matter ie:TV, and from that jumps to a conclusion without further investigation, than that persons most likely a halfwit.

Funny how the guy who posted the video says he will never buy another S&W...only Colt's from now on. Then what does he do? Runs out gets a Highway Patrolman :)

I don't believe I need to lighten up at all, actually, thought I was a little reserved in my comments.. :) But I agree with the rest of what you said.. I believe if you owned a business that was targeted with false statements that would ultimately hurt your business, you may feel a little different. The internet is frequented by too many people that will see this garbage and believe it!!!

Maybe I'm a dummy, but I never thought the OP was representing this as anything but something posted on yt by an idiot. I always realized the OP and the idiot were different people.

Thank you!
I wasn't sure what to make of them originally. (I suspected bad reloads)The reason I posted them here was to generate discussion interest and to see if other more knowledgable people noticed things that I didn't notice and dissect to find out what was going on in these videos. Didn't want to make a federal lawsuit or criminal case out of this....

Then I would say it is a good thing that I posted them on a knowledgable forum such as this to be debunked before the public on the internet. Blame the guy in the video, not me ;)

M10 blowup...Rem 130 gr

First; Smith & Wesson AND Remington should sue this moron into the poor house.

Second; The moron and any of his offspring and parents should be sterilized to prevent any further reproduction.

"If the OP and the youtuber are the same, I bet that Bubba's special ammo "clocked" his revolver right into oblivion."

"If you fail to change your ways and realize that YOU need the help, some one innocent may become a victim of such childish decisions. How about it Doug? Man up?"

"My personal opinion is something like this thread should never even have been posted here. The OP posted it like it was a true and accurate info he was passing along."

"l agree with turbo. The whole thread needs to be poofed. Admin/Mods ---pls poof this thread"

Tough self-righteous crowd here on Smith & Wesson forum with their sensitivity buttons turned way up and that's not to mention the much assuming and jumping to conclusions along with failing to give the Forum readership credit for having a lick of sense.

Folks who frequent the forum and see Doug's posts regularly, know he's a good member, knowledgeable and also a team player.

I'm grateful to have been informed of these YouTube clips and amused at the responses generated there. This is a reasonable topic of discussion.

I completely agree.

WERE YOU USING CHINESE MADE AMMO? I saw an e-mail that someone else used cheap foreign ammo in a .44mag and blew the whole top strap and cylinder apart!

Welcome to the forum. If you'll check out the earlier posts in this thread, you will see that it was established that these were reloads. The YouTube poster has apparently acknowledged that, though I haven't been back to check his latest comments for myself.

The ZERO headstamp on the cases is enough to tell you the ammo is not Chinese. BTW, I bet you're talking about the email that has been in circulation for over six months with pictures of a 629 in pieces. That was determined to be an explosive overload by a reloader who turned his destroyed gun in to an Alaska PD for disposition. Later versions of the email had fabricated additions blaming Chinese ammo.

One of my basic rules about email is this: the truth of an assertion in a blanket email is inversely proportional to the number of people who receive it. :)

I renamed this thread. It's not fair to have "130 gr Remington" in the title.

Remington UMC is using "ZERO" headstamped brass?
NAILED on the very first post… and within 10 minutes!
What took you? :D

I understand the hostility because some yahoo blew up a perfectly good S&W, but it's misdirected at the OP.
Yes it was. I thought the OP handled it very well.

...will you pleases respond to the obvious misrepresentration of Remington ammunition and secondly did you use your new reloader to blow up your gun? ... BUT, if you, as is obvious, messed up, the worst thing for your own credibility is to blame some one else, like a manufactorer that did Not produce those loads or smith and wesson. If you fail to change your ways and realize that YOU need the help, some one innocent may become a victim of such childish decisions. How about it Doug? Man up?
Don't you hate it when you make assumptions, read somebody the riot act, then find out you were wrong.
I'd man up and apologize.

I don't believe I need to lighten up at all...
Maybe just a little.

<gasp for air>You sure said a mouthful! :) ;)

I don't understand why he's made several videos stating the same thing .... perhaps a bit of SEO for some anti S&W jargon ....

I'll admit to being a tad sensitive to this kind of internet mis-information. Again, this is not a knock to the obvious experienced and knowledgeable members here. What some fail to realize is there are readers of this thread, much like myself from the very first post that read remington ammo and S&W have a serious problem on there hands.. That was my initial impression as it was others as well. And that's my point!! I knew something didn't add up, but I needed to follow this thread and learn from the experts here.. not everyone has figured it out, some will walk away from this thread with a sour taste in their mouth from the initial post.. so you say that's ok, because you know it's BS... Maybe you think it doesn't hurt Rem and Smith because they are large corporatiions, I just don't see it like that, if one person gets the wrong message, it's one person too much.. that's all, I just feel if a member is going to post this kind of stuff, they should be very certain from the 1st post, that it is BS. I don't see this kind of thread as reader entertainment with the way it started, or a thread that's good to learn from. No doubt it does feed both, but I still don't think it is right.

So now we change a few words around and it's ok.... and I need to lighten up... :) I'm working on it.. :)

And by the way, I really do like this board, it has taken me by surprise in a good way and I really do appreciate the honestly knowlegeable folk here.. and one more thing, I put a S&W Bone Collector 500 on layaway today at S&W Retail store... the last one they had, #699 of 1000. Hope it can handle the big charge when I pull the trigger for the first time.. :D:eek::D

You better hope so, 'cause Colt doesn't make one :D:D
