Just bought a brand new PPK/S in 22lr for a daily practice pistol. at the same time I picked up a 1,000 round box of Winchester M-22 black coat 40 grain rounds to burn through it to see how it works. I started to hammer rounds through my new pistol and I was lucky to get through a 10 round magazine without a dud, sometimes multiple duds. Tried taking duds and refeeding them, very few fired the second time around. I thought maybe this was, of course, the brand new pistol; when I fed my usual rounds through it (Federal 36 grain copper HP super cheaps, cheapo 40 grain Remington Thunderbolt) suddenly the duds came to a halt. Pistol shoots fine with these rounds, does not like the M-22.

Tried shooting these M-22 through my CZ bolt action rifle, which I also shoot daily. Haven't had a single problem yet with the rifle. Today I tried the M-22 in my grandfather's old Supermatic Citation with a result of having to go through 28 rounds to shoot my scheduled 25 rounds for today. One dud for every magazine load in an old worn pistol that is pretty reliable as far as duds go, reliable overall when kept clean.

I just don't see how a round can function well in a bolt action rifle yet is so problematic in auto loading pistols, especially for a product listed on the box claiming to be purposely made for auto loaders. Any other experiences or any gremlin I'm not aware of?

I haven't tried them in an autoloader, but my Winchester 9422 gets a 15% failure to fire rate with them. Didn't try to re-fire them because they ejected too far to locate. Never before have I experienced such horrible non performance from any ammo!

These feed and fire through my Buckmark just fine. I’ve tried the, with a Savage bolt action rifle and they sometimes don’t extract but they went bang every time.

Went through about 2,000 rounds and don’t have anymore.

I've had more issues with the various Winchester 22LR loadings than any other brand in semi autos. I reserve their use for revolvers and bolt action weapons only. I will say that the M22 seems to have been slightly more reliable than other Winchester loads, but it still leaves a good deal to be desired.

Winchester 22Lr M22 #S22LRT

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with
the Winchester 22Lr Black Box M22 #S22LRT
40gr 1255fps Black Copper Plated Round Nose
1000ct, two 500rd boxes inside.

My experience is different. In my 1956 Ruger
Single Six 22lr, I found out that these Win M22's
show the best Accuracy and have had No Misfires.

I have tried the Win M22's in my other S&W M617's
(4" and 6") and other 22lr Rifles with no problems.

Thank you for your Range Report and the best to
you in your Future Endeavors.
