After literally years of "Should I refinish"? Few months back I sent my 28-3 in for a factory refinish. Came back a few days ago. Also treated the old girl to a new set of NIL Combats.

I was issued this gun by the MT Hwy Patrol back in 1985. Carried it for several years until we finally switched over to 5903's. Along the way she lost probably 30 or 40% of it's finish and the rear sight got buggered up on the right edge from car doors, etc. Had to have fired several thousand rds of 125 gr .38 Special +P ammo too. As I shot it a LOT between quarterly Quals, Firearms Instructor duties, etc.

The Factory fixed some end shake , replaced the rear sight assembly and refinished. The original grips are long gone the gun was issued with Pach finger groove grips.

Gun came from the factory with a standard hammer but with a smooth, Combat trigger. Go figure?

Looks great!! The factory markings still retain their sharpness too. Looks like a factory type finish.

Can you say where it was done and how long?

S&W....sent back to the factory. Took exactly eleven weeks from the day I shipped it off.

Interesting... doesn't look like S&W is doing the same "brush blue" as the original, looks more like a matte blue achieved by bead blasting the frame, then bluing.

Looks good.

My duty weapon back in 1975 was 4" M28-2, which I wish I still had.

Looks great! Mind sharing what something like that costs from s&w?

NO FFL costs...shipped it from Fed-Ex with their label...returned to my home eleven weeks later by Fed-Ex. No need for an FFL as you are sending it to the manufacturer for Service. Then again I live in a free state so if you are from NJ, NJ, CT, CA, IL etc...... YMMV
