M-52 Ammo

I would try it out and see what happens. Fire a couple of mags or so and have a look-see at the barrel. The velocity is not a stopper in my book. If nothing else ship it to me and I'll try it.

Thanks for the offer and recommendation but I think when it warms up here in Pa I'll go out back and shoot a box to see how it groups and performs. Then I'll check and clean the barrel to see how much leading it leaves behind, Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I'll report back with results.

Just talked to a friend that lives in Meadville and it is right nippy there right now. 6 degrees with the chill factor.........Here it is 61 and I have a hooded sweatshirt on when I go outside for any length of time.

Hello AJ, where is Stick Marsh? I live in Boca.

I live in Sebastian. The Stick Marsh is a fishing area just west of here. I have to laugh at Bass Pro as they call their store in Palm Bay the Stick Marsh Outpost even though they are 20+ miles north of us.

I bought my 52 from another member , one of my smarter moves , love the gun . Soon after another member had like 2000rd's of Black Hills w/c's for sale so jumped on that . I'm partial to Georgia Arms , been shooting it for at least 25 years , never a problem with their remanufactured . The bag in the pic is "new" ammo which is loaded in Starline brass .

Another member posted in the ammo section about the Precision Delta ammo , also remanufactured at a great price . Last is the Winchester Super Match , which performed well . I feel the Georgia Arms shot as well , but that's probably me . I've shot it all in my PPC revolver which is where they shine .

My old Behlert gets lots of DEWC through it. Not pretty but, it can shoot! Got to get a picture of my 52-1!

Always amazed that anyone BUYS wadcutters; in these parts, the only way we got them was to roll our own. And, frequently, cast our own.
My go-to has been 148 HBWC and 3.0 of 231, 750'sec. It runs the 52, and shoots straight.
Oddly, some DEWC loaded as 'full charge', for .38 revolver use, won't cycle the 52.
Years ago, we spent a lot of time worrying about leading, especially since handcast bullets were what we could afford. Lewis lead removers were liberally used. To this day, I'm still not sure how much leading we were experiencing. Now, a somewhat more affluent me shoots mostly jacketed ammo, and softer HBWC have never been a problem, for the 52.

Each gun has a little difference in what it likes, but my starting point for my 52 was 3.0 gr W 231 with HBWC. If memory serves me right I may have worked up to 3.2 Gr. Some where you should find what your gun likes.

Right now my 52 likes 2.8 grains of Bullseye with a 148 grain HBWC. When I run out of Bullseye, I will have to go to probaby W231.

I use W/W 231 and Solo 1000. I prefer the Solo 1000 as it is cleaner and can get 750 FPS with 2.6 grains and it is very accurate and case life is exceptional. Unfortunately Solo 1000 isn't sold anymore and hasn't been available for a while. I started using Solo after I gave my first 52-2 barrel a very good cleaning and discovered a ring of lead around the end of the chamber where it meets the lands and groves. It was quite a job to remove that lead but once I did I discovered the barrel had pitted under that ring of lead. Shortly after I sent the pistol to Clark Custom to have them install one of their barrels and bushings in it. The Clark barrel performs just as well if not better than the OEM barrel, but the real treat was it is much easier to clean than any of my Model 52's with the factory barrels. I have another of my 52's at Clark for a barrel/bushing install and hope to have similar results with that one too. Since getting my first Clark barreled 52 back from them I only shoot Hornady 148 W/C bullets in it and I won't monkey with anything else.

WW 38 Special Super Match 148 gr. Lead Mid-Range

I have 10 boxes of WW 38 Special Super Match 148 gr. Lead Mid-Range ammunition. I no longer have the Model 52 handguns the ammo was designed for so the ammo is of no use to me. Might as well pass them on to someone who might be able to put them to good use. Both the cartridges and boxes are in perfect condition. I've been out of circulation for a long time due to some serious medical issues and need to get familiar with posting on various threads and re-learning about posting images. Should have mentioned I'd like to sell them.

Keep them and shoot them in any 38 or 357 revolver you may own. The WW Super Match is accurate.

There is a "For Sale" forum here and if you post it there for a reasonable price someone will buy them.

As pasound stated, those can be shot in any .38 Special/.357 Magnum that you own.

My go-to load for my King-sighted Bullseye 1927 Model 1904 38 Spl was 3.0gr WW231 over the Speer 148gr HBWC. When I got my Model 52 I was disappointed to discover it was too light to cycle. It had a 100% failure rate. Upping the charge to 3.2gr (Speer lists 3.3gr as max) completely cured it. I can’t comment on accuracy because I’m just a plinker, but it seems,s plenty accurate to me!
