This is one (of many) models of S&W that I am not familiar with so I have a couple of questions about one I saw yesterday.

It is a long barrel (not sure about exact length, probably 5 or 6 inches), nickel, target model. The finish appears to be original and in extremely good condition for its age. Its a third model, according to the tag on the gun.

First is a target model of this gun rare/scarce? Is such a gun collectible? What is an approximate value for such a gun, with what I would estimate to be a high 90's finish?

Thanks,

Bill

There was/is a 6" .22 HE third model, and the fixed sight version is less common than the Target.

Others will be along with a value estimate, but if you are a collector and like it I would call one collectible. :)

I would say a target sighted 6" barreled one is rare. How rare I don't know as I have never seen one in the flesh as to price tough to say SCSW says double to triple a standard one. If you are considering buying it check the forcing cone real good as these were sometimes shot with 22LR which results in damage to the forcing cone.
