How about an M frame with updated internals, maybe a .22 short version to really minimize the size and weight. With todays interest in concealed carry there should be some market interest, it would make a good back up for the 500 Mag. or maybe just a bookend to the collection.

With good steel a 22lr could be the same size as the original M frame, which was in 22 long. 22 long has the same case size as a long rifle.

I am with you on this. M frames are just so well, "cute"

Here is mine which I have never fired although it has been used in the past.

I'm glad to see I'm not alone. I know the parts would be small but if it was doable 100 years ago surely it should not be to hard now. CNC frame , MIM internals modern metallurgy , the weaknesses of the original Ladysmith should be overcome. My Ladysmith is not fully functional ,so a new mod. would give me a chance to actually shoot one. [it gives me a representative of the frame size without spending the money for a nice one], [my 317 gets close]

Here is a comparison
X frame 500, N frame 45 colt, L frame 44 special, K frame 357, J frame 38 spec, I frame 32 long and finally an M frame 22 long. As you can see the M frame makes an I frame look big and the K frame model 19 above the M looks huge.

They ever make an M with a lanyard loop?
Might be handy to help find where you stashed it on your person...;):D:D

They are just a little too large to hang on you keyring......

They could offer 4 models in the first run. Alloy frames on all.
#1. 2.25" 7 shot, black nitride, birdshead grip.
#2 2.25" 7 shot, black nitride, stainless hammer trigger and cylinder, birdshead grip.
#3 4" standard grip, blued, adjustable sight, trainer for kids.
#4 6" target model with all the trimmings.
if the price point was right I'd for sure buy 2, if not all 4.
Of course if your a purist then the black nitride could be replaced with standard blue, I just thought that for pocket carry or tacklebox carry that the nitride would wear better.

Hello,

Can someone tell what are the exact dimensions of the M-frame cylinder? Diameter and length.

Thank you very much.

Measured mine for you
length .980 Non recessed BTW
dia .993

A J frame cylinder is 1.306 in diameter for a size refernce. My M frame makes my I frame 22 look big.

I couldn't of course keep myself from fondling it a bit. One thing about it is I could never go to far on the trigger with my finger as only about 1/2 of my finger tip fits between the trigger and the guard.
