plenty tough unless you plan to use it as a club ;) It is definitely something you do not need to be gentle with. As long as your not purposely trying to break it there is nothing to worry about. What did you have in mind? What do you plan to use the rifle for? Is there a specific task your worried about it being able to handle?
It is a great rifle that you will love and is as versatile as all heck.
Just plan on getting some upgrades :D Not because you need them because you will want them ;)
If there is one weakness (if you can call it that) would be the charging handle. It is plastic and should be replaced with an aluminum one. Cheap and easy upgrade. Hope this helped. ENJOY
YOUR NEW ADDICTION! :D

Hi thanks for the reply just going to be for the range and some fun was looking at the plinker tactical charging handle and thanks for getting back to me

Don't worry about buying extras until you shoot the gun a lot... Use will tell you what you feel you need versus want...

I have two 15-22s and both have the original charging handles. Works fine with gloves. I have big hands and it's not an issue.

Save the money to spend on ammo... As stated earlier, don't use it as a club, esp on artic hares..... (Semi inside joke from another thread).

I charge with a plinker tactical with oversized latch and being a righty it works perfectly it clears my scope and i have no problems with it at all. Every one raves about the MST but i personally am waiting to see what T22 comes up with, also look at NDZ performance for more options.

Charging handle and then Bad lever or SBR, essential ;)

How did i forget? i should of saved you the time Ghostmutt and mentioned the SBR. How could i have forgotten :o

Due to ITAR i had to have a Magpul BAD lever custom fitted to my 15-22....the SBR is designed for the 15-22...both do exactly the same job (the Magpul does cosmetically look better IMHO)....and the job it does, for me it is the best addition i have put on my 15-22.

I was constantly getting my sight picture, rifle ready, then feeling a spongy trigger because i had forgotten to hit the bolt release....as soon as the BAD went on.....everything controlled by the trigger finger. PERFECT.

Andy, just wondering, How are gun laws in the Republic of Ireland like? Are M&P 15-22 easy to buy. Do u need a license to own? How about handguns... A bit off topic but I like to compare gun laws in different states and countries. Welcome to the forum and take care, mate.

Hi yes you need a licence for all types of guns even a BB gun. The likes of the 15-22 you have to be a member of a shooting club you can't use it for foxes or rabbits. I have a tikka .223 for foxes and can shoot it on farmers land I live in the north of Ireland and as long as you are a member of a a official shooting club you can have what you want in the likes of hand guns but only for range use which is fine and you have to be seen to be using it or the firearms office can remove it from your licence

You had asked how strong the polymer is. I have an AR15-22 that i have put over 30,000 rounds through, between both practice and competition. The only two parts that have broken are the extractor and the firing pin.

They are extremely tough.

When you fabricated the bad lever to fit the 15-22, did you heat it up or just use brute force to bend it?

I went with the purpose made NDZ SBR,
They are out there, just VERY hard to find in the UK. :-)

I had mine professionally customised and he used heat to bend the lever clear of the mag release bar and to clear the trigger well. Made a much better job of it than i could have done.

Like Rob1 said though the NDZ SBR is custom fitted for the 15-22 so if you are stateside then its a no brainer, plus you can have a logo put on the SBR. There are instructions on how to bend a Magpul BAD somewhere on this very forum. I had to go with the BAD due to the SBR being ITAR controlled.

I am very happy with it though.

Thanks!!!

I have the NDZ SBR's on my 15-22's and they work ok. I have a couple Bad Levers laying in a box and have some time to play. Not afraid to mangle one up to satisfy my curiosity. Just wanted to go in with eyes open.
