Hi everyone. I know Smith & Wesson only made the M&P 15-22P pistol for one year (2010), but I am trying to get a handle on how many they made. Does anyone know the total production total for the 15-22P? Thanks.

I'm curious as well. It is my wife's favorite gun to shoot, hands down!

I let some colleagues shoot it one time while at the range during quarterly quals several years ago. Shortly thereafter, two of them were so impressed with the fun gun that they went to several LGSs to buy one. It was only then, after they had to settle for a similar styled gun (from H&K I think) that I found out they were only available from Smith & Wesson for such a short time.

Every time we take it out to shoot, adjacent shooters frequently just look at it... and smile!

I have to say this one fun gun to shoot, when I go the range, fellow shooters are interested in buying one, and one I tell them sorry, not made no longer.

Thanks guys

Thanks, guys. Those are nice looking guns. Not sure what your serial numbers are, but mine is DUL6943. So, I'm guessing they made at least 6,943 of them. I have a 15-22 rifle that I shoot a lot. But this guy has spent its entire life in the safe. I haven't fired it, because when I found out they were discontinuing them, I thought a NIB unfired 15-22P would be rare or worth something big one day. But, if they made a ton of them, I'm guessing there probably isn't that much of a collector value. So, after 9 years, I'm contemplating shooting it. But, then my luck is they will go up in value for unfired guns somewhere down the road, and I'll regret shooting it.

I’ll check my serial number when I can, because you’ve gotten me curious.

From experience it can tell you they are already worth more than you paid, as I had to pay a premium for mine last year.

I really don’t think fired or not will make much difference on this one, but I am often wrong, so...

I recommend shooting it - it is too much fun, especially suppressed.

I believe total production of the 15-22P was a little over 10,000. Certainly not many compared to how many 15-22 rifles are out there.

I have no idea how many were made, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was well over 10K.

I have two and neither has a DUL prefix.

Thanks, Chad. That is interesting about the different prefixes. Not sure why they did that. Hmm, another twist in this saga.

I missed an opportunity to buy one before I got my rifle. Dumb me thought no I'll pick one up now now. Then <poof> no more pistols.
