I just went to my first action shoot. My Dad was shooting and I went to check it out. Well long story short, he turned me loose with his Glock for the last round and I beat his best time. Man was that fun!!! Anyways on to the question, I have two old M&P 1905's and I would like to try them out in the action shoot. They were my Grandfather's competition target guns and I learned a little about them in an earlier post, they have been modified and are smooth as silk. Will a model 10 speed loader work with these guns? Also, will model 10 aftermarket grips that will fit this? Thanks for the help.

Yes, any K-frame .38 special speedloader will work with the cylinder, however they may or may not work with the grips, depending upon the style of the grips.
Even if the speedloaders do work with the grips you have, just know that some scaring or scratching may happen to the wood grips. If they are fine or rare grips, some other sets may be needed. Most all model 10 grips will work- depending upon whether this is round or square butt of course.
Also, loads with required "power factors" for some shoots may be a bit stiff for the 1905- but that depends totally upon the discipline shot. By chance, were these guns set up for bullseye competition, or PPC possibly?

I'm guessing bullseye, one has a scope and a rather large grip with a thumb rest. Sorry I don't know what a ppc is.
I am relatively new to shooting but I've fallen head over heals. I started about a year ago and am actually pretty accurate with the 38's, the Blackhawk in 357mag, the Super Blackhawk in 44mag and my NAA mini in 22 mag. My stepfather gave me his reloader and I've been reloading for about 8 months. Now the action shoot was a blast, it was at an indoor pistol range but it seemed like it was set up nice (not that I know the difference).
It was just a real hoot.

Well, the "thumb rest" grip tells me that likely it was more of a bullseye piece- not set up for quick reloads at all.
Might want to try a bullseye match with it too- it will show you how hard it can be to pull all those bullets into a small area.

Tonights action shoot was kind of like that. We had to start at one end carrying a suitcase and go through a couple of openings shooting at the first three silhouettes carrying the suitcase, set the suitcase at a designated area, reload and finish offnthe last thee bad guys. There were hostage and bystandard silhouettes as well. We were required to hit the bad guys twice with half second penalties out of the center of mass. We were probably ten yards off of the targets. The bystandards were kind of a three dimensional distraction, if you know what I mean. It was fun, my Dad was running through it at 30 to 35 seconds on his turns, and I made it through at 29 seconds, I must see a little better, he does have 21 years on me.
