After total disappointment with a Taurus TH 45, I impulse bought a S&W M&P 2.0 .45 while I was sending the TH 45 back for the SIXTH time. The M&P had a glitch immediately in that after the slide locked back it would not release by pulling back on the slide, I had to use the slide release to get it to close. I'm thinking I should have stuck to CZ's. I sent it back to S&W and it was retuned in a week and has functioned perfectly ever since. Since I have had two firearms both new that malfunctioned immediately I have to wonder if the M&P has given anyone else any problems? The gun has been fired about 100 times now with 185 Grain JHP and 230 Grain FMJ with no problems even with the Winchester 230 Grain FMJ which is kind of a weak .45. Any comments on this gun would be appreciated since I did no research before buying it. Thanks for any input!IMG_2141 - Copy.JPGS&W.45 Compact.JPG

I bought my S&W M&P 2.0 .45 (4-inch) a few years ago and have had no issues with it. I installed an APEX trigger only due to not really liking the factory hinge trigger and also Novak night sights and have been very satisfied. It has more than adequate accuracy and recoil is very controllable. It has never had any jams or function problems with any 230 grain ball, or hollow points including my usual Federal 230 HST or Hydra-Shok carry loads. It sounds like your initial issue was resolved so I hope you get lots of use out of it.

I've been carrying one for just over a year now.

Really shoots nice, very manageable. I like everything about it - the grip, the balance, the position of the trigger - with the exception of the actual trigger action.

I bought one 2 or 3 years ago. It has been reliable. It is accurate enough to be worth sending the slide off to be milled for a dot optic and back up rear sight.

I don't carry it. I do take it to the range now and then. When my wife got her Equalizer she was fighting with it (trigger not as good as her Shield PC, grip safety issues, groups not as good as her Shield PC). She'd get frustrated with the Equalizer and then pick up the 2.0 Compact .45 and shoot a group or two in order to check if she was having a bad day or it was related to the Equalizer. She'd shoot some pretty good groups with the .45. If it wasn't so big/heavy as compared to the Shield or Equalizer I believe she'd be carrying it.

Not sorry at all I bought it or paid for the dot optic and had the slide modified for it. Worth all I spent on it. Especially if some day things in VA change and I have to start carrying a 10 shot pistol.
