I'm new to gun ownership and ended up buying an S&W M&P because I had used them several times at a range. Not really knowing mag capacity laws in my state I ended up buying a 10 round M&P when my state allows for high capacity mags. Will higher capacity mags fit my weapon?

What is the difference between these 2? Aside from one being a 10 round and the other a 15. Are the handles larger in the 15 round? I don't really see any differences in the guns aside from the magazine capacity. Could I fit a 15 round mag in mine?

Same size. I believe the 10 rounder is California compliant. I have to assume the larger mag will fit. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Being from michigan, I pay little attention to Ca. gun laws.

Absolutely. Even the 17 rounders for the fulll size will work although they do stick out a bit. Greg Cote LLC usually has the best prices on most magazines. Fast and inexpensive shipping as well. I just bought a couple of 15 rounders from them. $26.95 each if I recall. Had them in two days.

Magazines are physically the same size for the appropriate frame size ie a full size 17 round and a full sized 10 round. Difference being an indent or some other restriction in the magazine that limits the follower movement only allowing 10 rounds for restricted compliance.

So a 15 round mag would not work in mine? I had bought the 10 round M&P Compact when I should have bought the 15 round. The 2 guns I linked are the same exact gun? Except one has a 10 round mag and the other a 15?

Re-read TX-Dennis and ccssid's remarks, they both told you the 15 round magazines will fit your gun!

Your firearm is designed to use the 15 round magazines. The 10 round mags have either an indent or a different follower which restricts it's capacity. So short answer, yes, the 15 round mags fit your gun.

Ok cool. Thanks

The standard capacity magazines for the M&P 2.0 Compact are 15 rounds and will work in your M&P 2.0 Compact

Yes, the standard 2.0 Compact 9 mags are 15 rounds. Just watch when ordering them, there are 15 round mags for the full size guns for certain states like Colorado and others.

Yes, the 15 round mags will fit your M&P 2.0 Compact. Mine even came with a couple of sleeves to allow me to use the 17 round mags of the full size M&P.

I have the opposite problem. I want to buy a couple of OEM 10rd mags, but I can't find any. I can find them for the 1.0 9c, but not for the 2.0 9c.

Did anyone say - welcome to the Forum?

The "M & P 9" centerfire pistol magazine situation is confusing. You bought a 2.0 Compact (I think), which has 15 and 10 round magazines. The M & P 9c (also called the 1.0) has 12 and 10. The full-size 9 has 17, 15 and 10. The smaller mags are for states that restrict capacity. Be glad you live in one that doesn't :).
