Academy sports accidentally leaked listings for new "2.0" versions of M&P pistols (the listings were promptly deleted, but a Google search will quickly turn them up). Changes were said to include improved triggers (good!), but also an improved finish.

That part I thought to be interesting. I have always thought the finish used by S&W on the M&P's was already really good.

Lastly, prices appear to remain the same as for the "old" versions.

Yeah been seeing the Academy info lately. As the owner of a full size MP who is ok with its trigger but i also own a PC Shield with its much better trigger; i am curious to see where any improved 2.0 trigger falls for feel and features

The text in both places specifically mentions the 2.0 trigger. So it must be different or they wouldn't point it out. Although i put a duty/carry spring in mine, I thought the trigger in my 2016 9c was fine as it came so this will be interesting.

I was going to mention that the rumor of a M2.0 is not new but Shield9mm beat me to it. I read another article about it back in August and postponed my purchase. That lasted until November then I sprung for Shield 9mm anyway while it was on sale. It still wasn't known when they would appear and my pockets were on fire. ;)

I agree with Ditto1958 in that the finish is already great. I don't think I'd buy another simply for a trigger update. Mine works fine although it's at ~6.5lbs. (after some polishing). It was at 7+. I hope they do something with the slide guides, especially the rears. They seem to show more wear than the fronts. I guess from recoil pressure. Perhaps longer guides would help.

It's like a new car. They throw in a few extra options, change the light bezels and call it new. I'm saving for a new Victory 22 now so it would take quite an update on M2.0 to make me think of buying another.

I'd be very surprised if S&W did anything beyond a Performance Center -like polishing of fire control parts. That alone would make the FS triggers smoother and more consistently at the claimed 5.5-6# pull.

It would simply be someone polishing a few parts before assembly--an extra couple of minutes. If it's actually the same parts in the fire control system, I would likely upgrade to Apex parts anyway.

A different finish is just glitz.

Holes in the dust cover? I want nothing on my carry gun that increases the chance of garbage getting into the working parts of the gun.

SHOT Show in January is where new models are often introduced. It will be interesting to see what real changes are included.

I believe the pistol is a little longer than the full size M&P and it also has full stippling on the grip and frame. I want to say it comes with 4 back straps, but that may be incorrect so I apologize if it is, but could have sworn I read that somewhere.

I shot one at a special S&W preview day with Jerry Miculek at the NRA Range a couple months back. Trigger was really nice; big improvement.

Local gunshop had demo day. I shot 10 rounds for free. 9/10 were all in once tight group. One round was just a little low and left. This is pistol is a homerun. Best shooting pistol out of the box I have ever shot. If I purchased one I don't even think I would change the trigger bar or springs. I would polish up the internals, not really because it needs it, but just to see up close what or how it's better.
