Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say that I love my new M&P 22. I shot it for the first time yesterday and was very, very happy.

I was also shooting my primary gun (XDm .45 4.5") and the M&P just left me smiling. The XDm has a very nice PRP trigger job and TFOs...I love it. But I'll have to say the M&P is so comfy and fun to shoot out of the box that it is absolutely a great gun. What struck me about the trigger was...well, that I didn't really notice much coming from the modded XDm. I expected to be annoyed by a longer/heavier pull or the reset, or the 'grittiness' that some have described, but I didn't notice a thing. It just felt right in every way.

At this point the only "mod" I'm considering for the gun is the rear sight from a full size M&P, as I would prefer a 3-dot setup.

By the way, I was shooting at a range in the woods and, as always cleaned up more of other people's garbage (mostly shotgun shells...grrrr). I picked up 5-6 .22LR rounds that were intact but had been either dropped or FTF in other guns. They looked like had been out in the rainy/snowy woods for a few months. For the hell of it I chucked them in the M&P and got 3 of them to fire just fine. So much for being finicky about ammo. :)

Have fun and be safe!

Congrats on your new M&P 22! I got mine a few weeks ago and I also love it. Now looking into either a .40 or a 9.

This wife picked up SR22 a couple weeks ago. I guess that purchase made me feel left out cause I picked up a m&p22 today!!

The M&P 22 is indeed a blast to shoot with. It also seems to work best with copper plated HPs in my experience. I tried using some 40gr lead nose ammo which gave me FTF/FTE issues.

I picked up an m&p 9 with the intention of grabbing a 22 later. Buddy has one and its a fun gun to shoot....big reason I went m&p for my 9. Great gun.....gotta save up and grab one soon. Your title says it all.

I got a chance to handle one today. other than the rear sight, I liked it. It looks well put together, has nice magazines and has a great feel just like the fill size guns. I have no shortage of 22 pistols, so I don't know that I'll run right out and buy one but based on what I seen I would recommend it to others.

I really like mine. I have been having problems with failure to feed with some Winchester bulk ammo but got some CCI's today and it ate them like candy. Love it so far. I had a .22 S before and like the M&P 22 much better.

The M&P 22 is an awesome little pistol. Took my two young son's to the range with it for the first time last weekend and they had a blast. I have used several different kinds of ammo and have not found anything that it dosn't like yet.

Just got the M&P 22 pistol about one hour ago and can't wait to try it out. What's the thought on using lead-nose bullets? The gunshop only had a brick of Blazer.

I don't like to use unplated bullets in my .22s, but all they had was Blazer where I went too. I put around 150 of them through my M&P 22 without a hiccup, and the barrel did not show any unusual fouling when I cleaned it.

I fired 250 rounds through my M&P 22 last night. Due to the ever continuing shortage of .22 lr ammo here on the Left Coast, I ended up shooting a conglomeration of different ammo: Federal Bulk (325 rnd Value Pack) 36 gr plated HP, Remington .22Thunderbolt 40gr black plated RN, Fiocchi 40gr plated RN and CCI Stingers 32gr plated HP.

The M&P 22 performed flawlessly! No issues whatever. I even loaded multiple brands in the same magazine to compare how they shot. It ate up everything. Not one FTF, FTE or dud! How can you not love this gun! :D

I really like my M&P-22 also. It is a fantastic gun, but I have found it takes some maintenance. I have had the pins come loose, but they are easy to push back in with a tool (I used an allen wrench).

I have never had one firing related problem with it.

The first batch of bullets I shot with it were copper plated CCI's (bulk 325 round or 375 round value pack). I still have some of them left. Then I switched to Blazer lead round-nose.

I actually prefer the Blazer lead round-nose rounds because they don't smoke as bad as the CCI's = not as much crud to clean out of the breech after a round at the range. After my first 525 round box I bought a whole case of them - right before things went to pot on the gun/ammo market. I'm glad I did. I have about 5000 rounds in stock and I got them for $18/box.

When I was at a buddy's place several weeks ago I was shooting my M&P15-22. We got out his plinking target (5 swinging targets, 4 below and one on top). After a few magazines on the 15-22 I switched to the M&P-22 to see what I could do. At about 15-20 yards I was still hitting the targets fine once I got warmed up.

I liked mine so much, I went and traded my Glock 19 Gen4 for an M&P 9. Very little difference in feel or size between the two M&Ps, I love them both.....

Congrats, I just took my M&P22 to the range yesterday for the first time and it ate everything. I was really impressed with the gun, the accuracy was amazing. I guess im going to have to put it to the test and compare it to my Ruger SR22.

I am considering getting the M&P 22 but have a few questions for those that owe one.
How is the trigger. The last couple of 22s that I have tried were based off full caliber guns and sucked. I am talking about the walther p22, and the Sig mosquito.
When you say accuracy is good does that mean you can hit a dinner plate or you can chew out the x ring.

I feel like a 22. Needs to be very accurate and have a good to great trigger or it is pointless.
Some of my favorites are my buckmark, Sig trailside, and Beretta 87 target.
Thanks guys for your input.

I've owned the mosquito and didnt like it. A couple friends of mine own the Walther P22 and its real picky with ammo. I currently own the Ruger SR22 which will shoot anything and everything. I just bought the M&P22 on Thursday and I finally got some range time with it and I was really impressed of the accuracy. Im by no means a expert shooter but I took that M&P and at 10 yards I was shooting real tight groups on center of the target every time (about the size of a spray can lid). I'm thinking it has me convinced that it might be more accurate than my ruger sr22 which is saying a lot, the reliability we will have to see because I havent had 1 failure in about 2000+ rounds in the ruger

It took me about 15 minutes to bring the trigger down from 6.5lbs to 4lbs. Just a little honing on the hammer contact point, but you need a lighted magnifier and have to know what you're doing, or you'll ruin it.

I wanted two guns. One for fun and teaching my kids to shoot. One for home protection. My gun shop recommended the M&P 22 and a 9mm or .40SW.

I bought the .22 and the girls LOVE it. Bought the .40 a few weeks later. Both are GREAT guns.

If I could just find a .40 Shield...

After reading these reviews I'm going to get mine bought tomorrow. I do have a question though. Has anyone here covered up or removed all the white printing on these guns? I think it would look more like its big brothers and so much better without all the giant white printing. I know...it's the shooting that matters. But come on...Hehe

^ Interesting question about the lettering.

I put another 100rds through it the other day with no issue. Still love the little fella. Shooting it back/back with my XDm I can say that the trigger pull is definitely quite a bit longer (XDm has a trigger job), but nothing that bothers me.

I hope to really give it a workout this weekend.
