Hi everyone,
I just wanted to say that I love my new M&P 22. I shot it for the first time yesterday and was very, very happy.
I was also shooting my primary gun (XDm .45 4.5") and the M&P just left me smiling. The XDm has a very nice PRP trigger job and TFOs...I love it. But I'll have to say the M&P is so comfy and fun to shoot out of the box that it is absolutely a great gun. What struck me about the trigger was...well, that I didn't really notice much coming from the modded XDm. I expected to be annoyed by a longer/heavier pull or the reset, or the 'grittiness' that some have described, but I didn't notice a thing. It just felt right in every way.
At this point the only "mod" I'm considering for the gun is the rear sight from a full size M&P, as I would prefer a 3-dot setup.
By the way, I was shooting at a range in the woods and, as always cleaned up more of other people's garbage (mostly shotgun shells...grrrr). I picked up 5-6 .22LR rounds that were intact but had been either dropped or FTF in other guns. They looked like had been out in the rainy/snowy woods for a few months. For the hell of it I chucked them in the M&P and got 3 of them to fire just fine. So much for being finicky about ammo.
Have fun and be safe!
