I'll wait for the insanity to die down rather than pay twice the retail value for a magazine. Patronizing the gougers just encourages them to keep on gouging.
While I agree with the principle of not rewarding "gougers," the price is merely a reflection of supply and demand. The reality is that while a new [so-called] Assault Weapons Ban is not likely to see the light of day from the current Congress, a Draconian restriction on magazine capacity is a very real possibility. All but the most clueless gun-hating Democrats (this means you, Senator Feinstein) know they won't get an AWB, so they'll go for disarmament through the back doors: magazines and ammo, through bans, restrictions, and taxation.
If $49.99 for a magazine that retails for $32 is outrageous, what do you suppose the selling price will be if a mag restriction bill passes?
I also ordered a few from Smith at retail before they ran out (don't have them yet, though), and just a couple of these from .44Mag. That will take care of my needs either until the mag restriction legislation is dead, or until it passes. If the legislation goes through, I'll be happy I spent a little extra. If it dies, I'm out forty bucks over retail. Who among us hasn't blown that much on things far less important than new mags?
Life's a series of choices, and we each get to make our own. My goal was merely to let fellow owners know of a (short term, it seems) source of mags for those who want them enough to pay the asking price.
