M&P 22 preferred ammo

I was at a local gun show a week ago and what little 22LR ammo was for sale was selling for $20 a 100 for CCI and $15 dollars a 100 for the other brands. The thing is it was selling at those prices. I just got a M&P 22 and I hope to take it to the range this week and I will try to shoot several brands to see what it likes. I have a good supply of 22LR ammo as I always shoot a lot of it so I tended to keep a lot on hand before this hit. I shoot a lot of 22LR in my S&W revolvers, a S&W Model 41, and now the M&P 22. I also have a S&W 15-22 to to feed and it's new also so I will zero it in when I go to ahoot the M&P 22.

M&P diet preferences

I've had real good luck with the Federal value pack (375) ammo, 36 grain HP high velocity (1260 fps stated velocity).

Aguila 40g standard velocity (box says .22 Aguila SuperExtra) also works well.

My experience with Winchester white box is that it would jam a single-shot bolt action. I'm pretty well satisfied that Winchester is light loading them to save a few pennies on powder. Hopefully they'll read my post and repent their evil ways.

Hope this helps.

I had the same issue the the WWB for about the first 50-75 rds. They are seriously dirty gummed up. I cleaned my .22 real good and have ran another 300 rds through it without a single issue.

Best accuracy and function-CCI Standard and Fed Gold Match. Only really bad ammo has been some Aguila HV - many FTF's; and Wolf Match Target, which doesn't cycle the slide reliably.

CCI mini-mags for mine, but will continue to seek less expensive am. I could not get it to cycle and eject the Federal Value pack (figures, because I just found a good deal on 5,000 rounds). The gun only has 330 rounds through it so I suspect the issue with Federal will disappear once broken in a little. It seemed the Fed cases were a little on the waxy side with the lot I received. Not waxy enough to notice had it shot well, though.

I have ran only CCI Mini Mags through my M&P 22 and it has ran flawlessly. I have seen on here were others have tried just about every kind of ammo in the gun with all kinds of results. I have a pretty good supply of the CCI Mini Mags so I think I will continue using them. 22 LR ammo is quite hard to find right now so if you can find any you better get it.

Federal and CCI copper plated HP bulk packs for me. I try to avoid other brands, if possible. I have some Federal lead nose solids which it didn't like.

Mine also HATE the Winchester bulk lead bullets. Mine fires the Remington gold hollow points no problem and LOVE the CCI tacticles. About to find out in a couple hours how it feels about the CCI blazers.. I hope it's good because I just scored a new 500 round box. I'll let you know.

Hi everyone, litle question from the Netherlands
Mine is ordered (still waiting for the fire arm permission, takes about 8 weeks here...) and I was wondering if the CCI stinger would be ok? Is there a max for this gun?
Tx in advance,
Tarkan

Anyone ever shoot thunderbolts out of theirs?

Anyone use the Winchester M22 bulk packs? Rated at 1255 fps.

I have probably 1000 rounds through my new M&P22 since October. I like the gun and after playing with the sights believe it to be accurate. Here are my ammo results:
Rem Thunderbolt - excellent no problems
Other Rem also work well
CCI - excellent as well
Federal/Amer Eagle - bust FTE a lot
Win - a lot of FTE

That's all I've used. I like the Thunder because they work well and are cheap

When I first got my M&P22 I took it to the range and shot a couple hundred M22s. I may of had one feed. I thought GREAT! Well the second time I took it to the range they were horrible (and yes the gun was cleaned and lubed well). I had just about every couple of rounds either Fail to feed, Fail to Fire, Fail to Eject, Stove pipe, etc. I even had one blow up (the entire back of the brass case blew off). 3rd time to the range had a couple of fail to feed and one blow up like before. After that it hasn't been too bad. Still the occasional fail to feed or fail to fire but nothing nearly like the second time at the range. I don't know if it's just gun needed to be broken in more or what. I had CCI ammo that was never a problem in it from day one and the M22 ammo was never a problem in my Ruger SR22. Very odd that it was just about flawless the first shooting and then really horrible, then good again since. Personally though, I would not buy the M22 ammo again unless that was the only thing I could find and I was down to almost no ammo left. The thing that worries me most is the exploding ammo even though it was just twice (thus far).

Results?

How did it like the CCI blazers skeeut69?

Mine loves CCI Blazer. Never any failures at all with it and it is the most accurate. Had a few FTE/FTF with Remington Golden Bullet and Federal bulk pack, mostly in first 100 rounds. Since break-in it eats pretty much anything including standard velocity stuff. I won't shoot any more Remington Golden through it unless I have nothing else available, due to it leaves crappy gold flakes all over everything inside the pistol.

I've only had my M&P22 for a short time, and been to the range twice. First trip was all Remington, yellow jackets and subsonics. Worked great, had one FTF. Shot less than 100 rounds as I was also shooting the M&P15-22.

Last weekend tried the CCI Blazers and Federal American Eagle.... not so good. I had a bizarre problem with the Blazers, I would insert the magazine (slide locked back) and then rack the slide, but the top round would stovepipe (before I ever fired). Happened 3 - 4 times. Had a number of FTFs with the American Eagle, but no stovepipes. Shot about 100 rounds.

Will try Remington again the next time and see what happens.

Remington Golden is all I've been able to find. I've run a box of 525 through it without a problem.
