I am new to shooting, but when I was shooting I had CCI Sub-Sonin ammo and when I used to 2 50 rd. boxes of ammo I had nothing but trouble, my magazine would keep coming out, and I was only using 5 rds. at a time, when I increased the number of rds. in the magazine it would still come out.
Has anyone else experience this, and should I not use sub-sonic ammo with the 22.

Thanks

First, the magazine coming out is NOT the ammo's fault. It's either the 15-22's magazine/catch being defective or yours for incorrectly seating the magazine. Have you tried other magazines or do you only have one? When the magazine is locked in place the only reason it should fall out is because you wanted it to and hit the magazine release to do so. Don't be afraid to use a firm slap to seat a magazine, if it's seated you should not be able to pull it out with you hand.

Second subsonic ammo will shoot fine, but it may not have enough power to cycle the bolt properly thus turning your rifle into a single shot.

Thanks for the response, I only have the 1 magazine still waiting for my factory order of additional mags., I was slamming the mag in and I was looking to make sure that I did not hit the mag release. Hopefully it was just a one day range problem, I will go to the range and shot 100 rds. Of a differnt ammo and she what happens. I did not know if it was. Me or if you did not use sub-sone to avoid the issue.
Thanks

You shouldnt have to slam it, just a firm smack. If your other magazine does the same when you get it give S&W a call for a return, cause it should sest fairly easily and stay locked in.

Are you loading with a closed slide?
When you load with a closed slide, you have to compress the ammo another 1/2 cartridge to fully lock the magazine. If it is not fully locked, the magazine falls out when you start shooting, which is very funny to everyone but the shooter.

Try loading from an open slide and see if the problem goes away.

By the way, magazines should be seated with a firm push of the heel of your palm, NOT by drawing back and hitting it.

MP 22

The first time I shot my used MP 22 Pistol I shot HV 22's then CCI Standard Vel., then added a suppressor. All worked 100%. Never shot the CCI standard in my MP -22 Rifle yet.
