Went shooting today and my wife came with me, she tried the M&P .22 and loved it. Any reviews or opinions I should hear before I purchase her one.

I've had my M&P 22 Compact for about 2 months.. I have 800 rounds through it with various ammo and it has been flawless!! Great fun to shoot! Trigger on mine has a little catch to it that works out well once I got the feel of it.

I also have the Suppressor Ready version. Had to put some loctite blue on the thread protector so that it didn't work itself loose with each magazine.

I wouldn't hesitate picking one up.

i actually have a couple threads here with my compact; have had it for a couple months and am over 500 rounds thru it. Sights were ok out of the box, and I've ran multiple ammo types from 36 and 40gn CCI mini mags thru different Federal rounds and no issues.
I already have a nice Buckmark which will be more accurate than the compact. But i bought my compact for a fun toy and that's exactly what it's been for me. Its a blast to shoot. And considering my skill level, the last time i had it out at 10 yds it was not too bad for accuracy (see pic). Though to be honest that day i was more accurate with my FS 9 lol.
But i'd easily recommend a compact .22, and judging from the posts I've had on my threads seems most others would as well.

My wife has a M&P 22 Compact and she loves it. She's a dead shot with it and uses it every day as her CCW. She has about 1000 rounds through it now with zero failures. Gun is Very reliable, accurate and will eat any ammo we put in it!

Owned the full size and sold it, bought the compact an love it.

Go for it, fun gun.

I have a .22 Compact, and have had only one trip back to CS, a frozen takedown lever at about 4600 rounds. Mine was first release, and there were issues finding a suppressor adapter in the market, but that is no longer an issue.

Currently ~9600 rounds through it. No second thoughts on that one.

I also have one, the suppressor ready version. Its super quiet with the suppressor and lots of fun. Ive never had a problem with it. And it gets a work out on a daily basis.

I really want to get it for her. They are on back order all over town. I want to give it to her for mother's day.

I bought a 22C about a year ago. I've got close to 20,000 rounds through it and it has been problem free. Between my wife and myself we go the the range twice a week and put about 600 to 700 rounds through it. Just about eats any kind of ammo I put into it. I got my wife into shooting a couple of months ago and she loved mine so I bought one for her. The first time I took it apart to clean it the takedown lever just about fell out and the bore was very rough, and it had deep machine marks in it. It's back at S & W and I'm waiting for it to come back. On a few forums I've been reading this rough bore seems to be a new problem on this latest batch of guns. So would I recommend one, yes, but just check the bore before you take it home. It's easy to clean and fun to shoot. Since I bought the first one a year ago I have stopped shooting my model 63. :D

Got my .22 Compact a few months ago and it has been flawless w/everything. Sold the full size S&W .22 to get the Compact and never regretted it.

I had purchased a 22 compact on 4/12/2016 took it home cleaned it also noticed tool marks in the bore shot it anyways in hope they wouldn't make a difference, not the case not very good accuracy and excessive leading.

Its hard to tell at the gun shop the bore has a thick grease for rust protection, you would have to ask to clean the bore if your on close terms with your local shop maybe no problem. Just beware of the possibility.

So on 04/13/2016 it was back to S&W. I have since bought a used walther p22 it has a clean bore good accuracy and no leading using the same ammo and more of it. The more I wait for mine to return the more I find out its not as isolated of an incident as I thought.

Mine is super accurate and had been flawless thru about 2500 rounds. I also have a Ruger SR22 and it's an awesome gun as well. I just didn't like that the safety on the Ruger (actually a decocker) operates opposite to my carry guns. I train to thumb the safety off on the draw and didn't like the possibility of confusing my "muscle memory"....

Mine isn't the most accurate, but I was rather spoiled by a Buckmark and even a 22A-1 that had point and click simplicity.
My M&P22Compact sees a lot of rounds as the first gun many new shooters will shoot. It is reliable with the right ammo, and accurate enough to be able to critique shooter technique. I start off by shooting it myself, to show what the gun is capable of, just to quell those types of students who are quick to blame the equipment.

I am new to this forum, and I already like the reviews on the M&P 22 compact. I would like to get one for my wife. I have been looking at one last week at Cabela's, but I think I can find one for less at a local shop.

I would stay away for the big box stores like Cabela's, Gander, I've found they are usually overpriced.

Good to hear very encouraging. Gives me hope I like the gun feels better built than my P22. Mine ran great out of the box as far as going through ammo. I agree with you on the safety on the ruger and the "muscle memory".
