M&P 22X issues

New M&P 22X. I love the gun, but the first 200 rounds had multiple light primer strikes and several, maybe 12, failures to feed. Upon receiving the gun I noticed some sort of what looked and felt like a heavy grease from the factory. I cleaned the weapon and re-lubed before the range trip. The ammo was CCI mini mag HP 40gr and Fiocchi 40gr HP. Seemed as if both magazines and both types ammo produced the same results.

Has any had these type of issues with the 22X? I realize at 200 rounds it is probably not broken in, but I have several 22lr pistols that were trouble free from the start. Does anyone else’s gun prefer a specific ammo? What lube are you using? For reference I have both the M&P 22 mag and the M&P 5.7x28 and haven’t had a single malfunction with either. Using Wilson Combat lite lube.

The most likely culprit isn't your cleaning or lube (Wilson Combat is great stuff). It's probably one of two things, The magazine, or that the gun genuinely needs a few hundred rounds to loosen up, what we call the "break-in curse" of some rimfires.

I had no issues with mine, I use CCI also. I had 2 failures to feed then it ran smooth. I worked at a local range for seven years. The most prevalent problem was lack of lubrication..I heard shooters say it's new I don't need to oil it.The most common response was I oiled the last time I shot it 6 months ago. This is not a minor concern it is a pandemic. It got to where I was carrying a bottle of lube when I was working. I would just make sure you have plenty of lube on the gun and continue to shoot it should get better, if not then look at sending back to S/W.

No issues here. I put 200 rounds of CCI Mini Mags through it during my first range trip without so much as a hiccup.

I put 120 Federal bulk through mine using a friend’s Vortex Defender CCW when I first got it and it ran flawlessly, locking the slide after every mag.
I’ll try some different ammo but as long as it continues to function on cheap bulk that’s what I’ll use.
Mine didn’t have the threaded adapter & optics shim plate bag in the box and it took almost a month to get them.
I finally got my Vortex Defender CCW mounted Saturday and hope to get it sighted in later this week.

I’d suggest a good cleaning then lube it up. If you’re still getting light strikes, thy a few different brands of ammo. If it’s Still having issue let S&W take a look at it-maybe a weak spring

On my first range trip I shot 120 rounds of Federal bulk without any incident.
This afternoon I took a quick trip down to my range to sight in the 3 MOA Vortex Defender CCW.
Again, I was using the Federal bulk.
I ended up shooting 188 rounds of the Federal bulk and I had a handful of times on one magazine that the the first round didn't have enough power to eject the fired case and chamber another round.
It was always the same magazine.
I fired five rounds of CCI MiniMags in each magazine and they both worked fine.
It will require further "testing".
I tried my M&P40 PC Ported's CompTac Flatline and my BladeTec M&P9 Pro IDPA holsters.
While certainly not suitable for any fast movements with the gun holstered either is sufficient for careful range time.
The BladeTec holds the grip away from the body more and make presentation smoother.
That's what I have used on my M&P22 (not compact) for about 13 years

MOST of the honest reviews (where they shoot it out of the box or they're not paid shills) have had tons of problems. FTF, FTE, and light-strikes are the most common. Some have seen improvement after 200-300 rounds, others haven't.
I'm most shocked to see people (including 9 mil ridge) have issues with Mini-mags--I've never had an issue in any 22 pistol with them or CCI standard.

I want to like this gun more than the TX22 TORO gen2, but the P322 had some issues and didn't shoot as tight of groups as the new TORO (bc of the bull barrel I think).

But I'm gonna hold off and see if S&W does any "rolling" changes and/or someone comes out with a heavier hammer spring or something. I'd also like a flush mag that held 15.

I am mostly a Ruger MKIV shooter, not been crazy about articulating slide pistols for reliability reasons. However, id like to like this pistol if it had a flush baseplate, and was reliable. I haven't seen the issues you mentioned yet, but I haven't watched a whole lot of videos on it so far.

Watch 9 mil Ridge's original 22X video (he had problems with CCI mini-mag), but I've watched another 6-7 22X reviews from random no-name folks. Some seem to find just one ammo it hates, some have issues with various ammo.
Conversely, it's hard to find anyone with a TX22 TORO gen2 that has any issues (though the first TX22 had a bad batch of barrels and other issues).
I like the looks, grip, and size of the 22X, but I won't buy any gun--even a 22LR--that I don't think is going to be 100% reliable besides bad ammo (but I can't ever remember having a single bad round with CCI mini-mag or standard).

As I mentioned previously I had no issues with my M&P 22X on its first range session and a few that were ammo related on its second session.
I personally don't buy or reject a gun based on YouTube videos though I do enjoy watching SOME of them.
I had previously watched about every 22X YouTube video I could where they actually shot the gun find, except the guy who wears a bandana on his face.
I suffered through about 5 minutes him but that was all I could take.
I didn't see "a ton of issues" but maybe I missed those and only watched the "paid shill" videos.
I did see some issues that were noted to be ammo related and a few that MAY have been gun related.
I just watched two videos I hadn't seen before by Carter Country and Suppressor Nation.
Carter Country was more informative but Suppressor Nation was shooting 9+ types of ammo all with a suppressor.
I have an original M&P22 that I bought in 2012 or 2013.
It has worked very well if I keep it reasonably clean.
It will have occasional issues with Federal bulk if I let it get really dirty.
I actually like the feel of it far better than the 22X and wouldn't bought the 22X if it was not for the optic capability.
