I recently posted about the decision between the 442 and the M&P340. I had an overwhelming amount of interest and opinions and I greatly appreciated them. I went ahead at that time and bought the 442 because I got it NIB at my local store for $310.00 plus tax which was an absolutely great deal. I was kicking the decision between the 442 and the M&P340 because my local store also had a used M&P 340 for 600.00 in original box. Of course that is why at first I opted for the 442 and am really happy with that purchase.
After buying the 442, I wondered if the store would take anything off of the 340 because they have had it for over 6 months. It was a NO lock which also intrigued me into wanting it as well so today I went to the store and got them down to $500.00 for the M&P340. I immediately bought it and took it out to the range and shot it. The gun came with the original grips but had these very abrasive grips on it that I did not like after the first 2 rounds fired so I switched over to the blue Hogues in the pic and tried them. I have attached 2 photos of my shooting of the 442 at 7 yards and the 340 at 5 yards. I am trying to figure out this big dot sight is why I had it closer. I am VERY happy with the price I paid and the fact that the gun and I can hit the target so far. The gun is from 2015 and has a few handling marks but the trigger is better than my 442 so I am happy.
Now on to my issue and a question for you guys. If you pay attention to the small steel pin that is in the pic next to the grips I took off, this fell out of the grip area when I took off those abrasive grips. I could not see anywhere that they came from on the handle portion of the gun and it appears under a micro scope that the side plate screws have not been taken off so I ask, what and or where do you guys think this is from or what is it? I am baffled... I did check the after market grips for any extra hole that the pin would be used to hold those grips together and there is not any extra holes...
