Mine was 100% reliable right out of the box, accurate, and recoil is insignificant. It's a fine pistol.

I have fired one. It had some significant blast like all 357 SIG caliber guns, but felt recoil was pretty mild. It was more pleasant to shoot than the Glock 31, and is likely more durable. I believe a least one state agency has dropped the Glock in 357 & gone with the M&P in 357.

I have had my full size M&P 357Sig with a Crimson Trace laser grip for about 7months . It is my everyday carry. I love it, it is more powerful than the standard 9mm luger and is about on par with the 357 remington Magnum.

I have an M&P 357sig compact with a 40S&W barrel. The pistol is not reliable with the 357 sig. Numerous failure to fire issues. I sent the pistol back to S&W, they replaced the barrel, and it STILL has numerous failure to fire issues. The 40S&W barrel works fine though.

It's a fast bullet. It has significant muzzle flash, much more than any other m&p I've fired. Recoil is mild, you can get back on target fairly easily. If you don't like it it will easily convert to a 40. I would suggest finding a range you could rent a few guns from to find something you're comfortable with. Good luck!
