I'm thinking of buying a used 40 cal from a friend with the intentions of putting a Apex 9mm barrel in it. The question I have is, is their going to be any function problems this that transition?

People do it all the time, you should 9mm mags.

ON EDIT: Cost of the gun, new barrel and 9 mm mags, you could probably buy a new one in the 9 mm cal.

I have the 40 to 9 conversion barrel from Storm Lake for my 40c and just ordered the 357 sig barrel for it from them also ..

for the 9 you just need to pick up a few 9 mm magazines for it .. for the 357 sig rounds the 40 magazines work ..

I put a Storm Lake 9 in my 40FS, no problems. I use 9mm mags, fyi.

Best!

9mm barrel in M&P 40 FS

Yes it does and it's far cheaper than buying a Wolf or Storm Lake barrel. I found one on Ebay for 90 bucks. Works just fine. You can find 17 round 9mm mags under $30 as well.

Here is a link to a 9mm barrel that goes for 73.99. You have to act fast when they are in stock.

Smith & Wesson Barrel S&W M&P 9mm Luger 4.25

Here is a link to the S&W orignal magazines that they sell for 26.95. When I bought mine they were 25.00 each they went up.

SMITH&WESSON FACTORY M&P9 FULL SIZED 17 RD 9MM 194400000 [194400000] - $26.95 : Greg Cote, LLC

I did the same coversion that you are talking about. Changing the 40 cal to a 9mm. All I did was buy the barrel and the new magazines and went to the range and had fun. All you need to do is take the 40 barrel out and put the 9mm barrell in and then use the new magazines and it works.
