Anyone have one of those, and if so, how does its handling qualities compare to the full sized gun? I've been thinking I need one. It will be for concealed carry, but I also want the full sized grip. My only experience with the M&P line thus far was putting 50 rounds thru a full sized 40, which impressed me.

I have a 4 inch.45 M&P,an overall excellant handling pistol.I traded a Glock 21 that was an excellant shooter with some reservations since the glock shot and functioned well but did not fit my hand. The M&P is everything the glock was and more.Comfort, function with all types of ammo and accuracy are great.Best of all it fit the Blackhawk holster I had for the glock.

Thanks for the reply, Dave from Pa. I bought a G21SF with the pic rail and ambi mag release a couple of years ago when they were new and hot. Having had an standard 21 for a while, I found the SF grip a huge improvement over the original size. My only agravation had been the pic rail. My holster selection was severely limited. I was entertaining the idea of trading it for a new SF with the standard rail and mag release or a 30SF, then got to thinking about the M&P. If the 45 version fires as well as the 40 I fired a while back, I will like it a whole lot.

Both my M&P45s are the full-size versions, but I can't imagine the 4" is significantly different in shootability or function.

I think the M&P45 is the best polymer .45ACP on the market, and I've tried a number of them. Its just as reliable as a Glock 21, has better sights, a much better grip, and the great S&W warranty and support.
