If I were you, I'd put it up for sale.
I already posted up what I will be doing "If smith says because its just cosmetic they won't try to fix it, then it is what it is, but it will still bug me."
Thanks for the help.
If I were you, I'd put it up for sale.
That's what I thought you were saying, but the picture wasn't clear. The second pic is much better. My 45 is BEHIND the rear of the frame by .020"
http://smith-wessonforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=144860&d=1393882820Here is a clearer picture. You can say that m&p's arent precision instruments all you want, but we are talking about CNC machined barrels. Factoring in tool erosion and a drunk operator, NONE of the dimensions should be anywhere near .020" off, let alone have mine be .020" one direction and yours be .020" in the other.
You can call S&W and tell them you need a guide rod due to a blemish/issue and they'll send you one free of charge. I had one with a blemish on my 9c and got one free within a week.
This has nothing to do with the length of the guide rod. The guide rod is correct. Here are some pictures. With the slide off the frame, the guide rod sticks out .035" With the slide on the frame it sticks out .066". A difference of .031". Factoring in that it has to be off by something (my 40c moves .008"), I'd say its .020" off. Last picture is of the rear of the gun, the slide is behind the frame by exactly .020"
