Does anyone carry the M&P 45 midsize (4" barrel) for concealed carry daily? Just curious. The overall height is the same as the fullsize, but the barrel length is shorter and with some caution (so as to keep it concealed it seems reasonable) Curious. 10 rounds of .45 seems like the perfect carry.

I don't have a midsize, but I have a fullsize and my brother has the compact.

I carry my fullsize IWB using a Comp-Tac MTAC. The barrel length is not an issue. The grip, on the other hand, is pushing the limits of what is easy to conceal under my normal summer attire (t-shirt, or polo). Winter carry is easy.

You're going to have the same problem with the mid-size. If you carry OWB, then the .5" shorter barrel might help, but you've still got to conceal a long grip.

The compact, on the other hand, has a 4" barrel (same as the mid-size) but a slightly shorter grip, reducing mag capacity to 8. The grip size of the compact, for me, is MUCH easier to conceal under summer attire.

Also, they make grip adapters to allow you to insert a full-size, 10 round magazine in the compact, effectively turning it in to the mid-size gun with the longer grip.

To me, that seems like the best all-round setup. Use the shorter 8 round magazine for carry, and carry a 10 round magazine as a spare. Slap the 10 rounder in for nightstand duty (or the 14 rounder that they sell).

That is what I was looking for. Thanks..The grip on the midsize does seem like just a bit more to conceal and the idea of the 10 rounder for nightstand duty or spare mag is ideal. I had forgot that the mags fit.

I know this is dumb, but the mid-size looks just right to me, and it feels good in the hand.

The smaller guns such the mid size, compact and even some of the sub compacts, have just come so far in terms of accuracy, that most of them warrant consideration. I would exclude most guns below 12 ounces, as when using a bullet of any significant power, the recoil is going to effect accuracy and the gun's a pain in the hand after a few dozen practice rounds.

The S&W Bodyguard 380, as long as you're packing a very good bullet for personal protection, such as the Hornady critical defense line, is quite effective, (check the ballistics studies: Hornady Manufacturing Company :: Ammunition :: Handgun :: Choose by Caliber :: 380 Auto :: 380 Auto 90 gr Critical Defense® ) yet the gun just about disappears in my pants pocket and costs about $300now, even with a standard laser if you care to use that. It's not too brutal on my hand either.

Those specialized hollow point bullets are too expensive to me for much target practice, but loaded with those, I can go 'out on the town' (in my city anyway) dressed up or down and with that slim, light little pocket pistol and feel 'insured'. The Glock 26 and 27, in 9 or 40, pack pretty well too--but not as well as the Smithy.

No, those 'pocket rockets' are not going to give you the same target groups from 50 yards out that a 4.5 or 5 inch, M&P, Glock or Springfield Xd/m will. I still I like the bigger guns too, but might just carry them out and about if I have a heavy winter coat on. Otherwise, they're basically for the bedside (with Glaser safety slugs there), the car glove box and for fun out on the shooting range for me.

I have the midsize. I just got a zeroconcealment (OWB, kydex, pancake) holster and it seems to work well. Not as well as my Shield of course, but 7+1 9mm vs 10 45acp...I'll give up the comfort.

Accuracy is **** anything past 10yds with the 4" barrel and crappy trigger. For me it shoots low. The apex trigger should help it alot but I'll need to save up for that.

I have the full size and carry it in a Comp Tac Infidel iwb with no problems.Accuracy is great at 25 yds farthest I have shot it.
