M&P .45

I am thinking about buying an M&P .45 with the 4" barrel. I want to buy it before the rebate deals expire.
Whom here would like to talk about theirs and their experiences with it? Recoil? Accuracy? Range ammo? Self defense ammo? Sights?
I have owned a .45 ACP gun before made by a Turkish armory named TIZAS. That gun was a real tac driver!
I am also "sort" of interested in the Glock G38 .45 GAP.

I have a 45 Shield that I like very well. Good shooter, no problem with recoil. That's a 3.3" barrel. For the price even without rebate you get a good deal.

I would stick with 45ACP. It's a standard and has been around 114 years. The 45 GAP, man the ammo is expensive and will it last?

My m&p 45 2.0 shoots .600" groups in the ransom rest.
I have yet to have a malfunction in apx 800-1000 rnds. I shoot target loads and hot defensive loads.
In my opinion the m&p 2.0 is a much more quality pistol for the money.
Better sights, better grip texture, better grip angle, not to mention more accurate.
Nothing against glocks

I have the 1.0 M&P 45 Compact with the 4" barrel and 8 round magazine and I just love it! It is accurate, reliable and a dream to CCW. I am currently considering adding to the flock with the full size M&P 45.
IMHO: You can't go wrong with that platform.

I have the 4.5 inch model 45. I haven't shot it all that much yet...maybe 300 rounds, but it is very accurate and a pleasure to shoot.

pretty much what I was going to write. Recoil is very manageable.
Full size mags with an Xgrip will get you 10 rounds.

I prefer the MP .45C over the G38. I just had to gather information on both of them.
I went to a Glock website and basically asked the same Q? about the G38 as I did the MP .45C. And people wonder why they're called fanboys! Those members did/said everything about my choice's (the rudeness was about the MP .45C) except for talking about my mother! *** is wrong with them? Were they dropped on their heads at birth? SMH!
Another thing, if/when I get one it will NOT have a thumb safety. And, I DON'T want any extended mag ends. If I can't shoot the gun with the grip it came with, then I don't want it!

They have to defend their choice and people have a hard time swallowing that there may be something better than what they have. It is of course personal preference, but I found the 2.0 had everything I wish the Glock had at a reasonable price. It was nice that there is a option for Safety or no Safety to satisfy both camps. I think S&W hit a home run with this design and features. I shoot accurately, superb Trigger, ergonomics are excellent, high quality materials. I have no interest in aftermarket upgrades which was a first for me except installing my preferred nightsights, although the factory standard sights are excellent. It was like all my wish list rolled into one. It may not be the gun for everyone but it comes close imo

Apex's Randy Lee recent said "In my experience, the 45 and 40 S&W caliber M&Ps have never suffered from the accuracy complaints that the 9mm gets on the internet. In fact all the 45 M&Ps I've ever tested have shot as well as some high end custom 1911s."
That is what he thinks of their accuracy. Good enough for me.

Had the old M-P45. Was an ok gun. I've never benched a gun so I couldn't tell you how "accurate" it was but it was more than accurate for combat and I could hit a gong at 100 yards. I still prefer to G21. Feels better, shoots softer, just as accurate. Sold the M&P45 for the G21

I've shot a friends G21 a fair amount. He also has a G30 and I shoot it better, idk why, just do. It shoots soft for a small 45. I've never shot M&P 45, or Shield 45. A friend bought all 3 calibers of Shields but we haven't hit the range yet.

My MP45 with the 4" barrel is simply the softest shooting .45 ACP handgun that I've ever fired. It also shoots more accurately than I can hold these days. I'm not into target or competition shooting these days. I am certain that there are other .45ACP guns that are more accurate than this one, but it is way plenty accurate enough for personal protection needs. It fits my hand very well, I like the grip angle very well, and I can find nothing to criticize about it ... well, one thing. Mine came with the ambidextrous "batwing" thumb safety installed. First of all, I do not prefer the manual safety period. In the case of my M&P45, the safety was rather easily manipulated, either on purpose or by accident. I could not abide that.

So I simply lifted the assembly up out of the frame enough to lift the thumb safety out of the mechanism, reinstalled the assembly, and moved forward. I'm not telling anyone to do this, simply stating what I have done. The piece can simply be reinstalled if I choose to do so or if I choose to sell the gun. I do not ever expect to do so. I really do like this handgun for a full sized .45ACP. It meets all my requirements and needs.

I also own a Shield45. It is my EDC. I feel the same way about the Shield as I do the full sized M&P45. Neither is going anyplace!! The Shield is also a remarkably soft shooting handgun, especially given it's small and very easily carried size. It is also very accurate in my hands. Both of these guns are in the same condition as they came from the factory, and both have only gotten better with shooting. I have no need for any aftermarket upgrades for either one!

I know that the Glocks are very dependable firearms. I personally cannot abide the way they fit in my hands. I owned a G21 for a time. I personally would not trade my M&P45 for three Glocks in the same caliber. Just my personal feelings reported here. Everyone that I have allowed to fire my M&P45 has loved it, and at least three of them now own one for themselves. All this proves is that I really do like my M&P45, and I do not hesitate to recommend it to you. If it fits your hand, I think you will be very pleased with its accuracy and dependability. You gotta decide for yourself!!!

You forgot to mention at what distance you got the .600" groups?
Very important detail.
