I am seriously considering a M&P 45 for (non summer) CCW. That being said, I'm having a hard time deciding between the mid size and the compact. Although the length is the same, the height is where my question is. If you shoot the compact with the flat base magazine, can you still get your pinky finger on the grip, or does it fall underneath? If your finger is underneath, can you manage to hold on well enough when firing? If you must use the magazine with the extension for the pinky, then does it increase the overall size to about the same as the mid size? I cannot find any locally to compare. Thanks, Rob.

I have a 45C and I prefer the flat base magazine. I'm able to get all fingers onto the pistol grip. My hands are on the smaller size (my daily wear motorcycle gloves are size 8 - 8.5).

I have 45c and with the flat base mag and I can wrap all my fingers around the grip.I do where a large size in gloves. The extended mag shows to much when I CC.

I have 45c and use the flat base mag and carry all year with no problem I also can wrap all my fingers around the grip and wear large size in gloves.

I had the 45c and traded it for the midsize, there is so little size difference in the two weapons. Plus u get and extra two rounds in the mid. does 2 rounds make a difference? I say Hell ya it does. now the mid size has been my edc for almost one month now. conceals real well in a TTGunleather pancake hi ride (great holster by the way)

Large glove size, medium backstrap and my pinky falls off 45c with flat base. With extended base the grip is close to that of my other M&P's.

But I think the mid size 45 is going to be somewhat taller than the 45C with the extended base. That wedge shape base is not 2 rounds in height.

Get the 45 mid if the extra two rounds are important. Get the 45C if you want something that is nominally more concealable.

The compact 45c to me is the most comfortable size and even though I have large hands I have no trouble wrapping all my fingers (pinky included) around the grip with the flat base magazine. The midsize M&P45 uses the same size gripframe as the full size, and I find it to be to long for my taste. Hold the two side by side if you can and see what you think. The M&P45c is my favorite M&P.

M&P 45C

I have had a 45C now for about a year and a half.

Appox 500-600 rds through the pistol. I carry it quite a bit in a Crossbreed Supertuck. Carries very nicely and conceals great very, very, little print if any, I'm 6'3 290.

I use the flat base magazine.

My hands are XL. I curl the little finger under. The pistol shoots very nicely for me this way. I'm very comfortable with it and I'm able to control the pistol well. For a small pistol I was initially shocked at how accurate it is out to 20 yards, or more.

I believe if someone had smaller hands the extended grip would probably make them much more comfortable with the pistol.

One thing I do really like about the pistol is how easy it is to take down and clean. I'm talking a couple minutes and you're done. I added the Apex DECAEK kit about a year ago night and day difference I went with the carry kit. I have absolutely no fear of a ND.

I would like to add is I have only shot hardball and have never had one single misfire or FTF 100% perfect so far.

I have a S&W 45 c for everyday carry and love it. As far as the mag being flat or otherwise I have a better grip and feel with the added tang on the mag. I carry it in a Fobus holster with the horizontal entry to the holster and the thumb break. I was a little unsure about this type at first but have grown to like it. It's a very fast draw.
