Today shooting my m&p 45c after a round or two the slide would lock back as if I shot the last roud. If I pulled the slide release the slide would go forward and shoot another round or two then it would happen again, All kinds of ammo, nothing made a differance. Any thoughts? I have heard mag follower and slide release spring.

Could be a weak or missing spring in the slide release (not sure if there is one, mine is in the safe, and I'm to lazy to check), or a badly fit slide release that bounces up under recoil. The magazine follower should not be involved, as it is depressed by the rounds in the magazine.

If you are sure you are not hitting it with your fingers under recoil, then I would send it back to S&W for repair. Not really inspiring on a gun designed for self defense.

When you field strip the gun, do you notice the slide catch/release lever seeming to be loose? It sounds like it's either not got a spring or the spring is too weak. Possible from the previous owner. Does it have any aftermarket springs or parts that you are aware of?

Will smith and wesson warranty it out, I am not the original owner

Yes, S&W should cover it, as it is a newer model that falls under their lifetime warranty. Call them, describe the problem, and ask for a shipping label.

Did you give it a good cleaning to get all the gunk out (from who know's how well they took care of it before) ? Lube the points needed ? A good cleaning could solve everything. Clean the mags inside and out too. Do you have the original owners manual ?

Don't call - just go on the website and request a shipping label. Worked for me and my wife's Sigma 9F which had issues and we weren't the original owners. The problem with calling is that I've heard some people say they called and were told that the warranty was only for the original owner. So, if you don't talk to them, just do it on the website, it should all flow through quite well.
