I actually posted in the wrong area on this site. I have a SA 1911. I have looked at the and shot the M&P 9. Great gun. I reload for 45 acp for the 1911. Not sure which way to go. I really like the M&P 9, but really don't want tyo buy ammo when I can reload. I just read here getting the M&P9p good trigger long site radius, I also have older eyes. Would it be cheaper to just buy the 9 cal.

John, either way I don't think you can go wrong. They are both sweet shooting guns. 9mm is a little cheaper to shoot then .45. If you get the 9mm, why not get a set of 9mm dies and reload for that too?

How about a compromise such as the M&P in .40 cal? I get my practice ammo for $29 per box of 100 rounds. I love the gun!

BTW, I also love my religion too. LOL

Get Both? That's what I did.

But in my state, I have a 10 round magazine limit so I have a severely altered M&P9 (It's like they cut the arm off of it :( )

Kinda my thought.

Or being that 9mm is one of the cheapest centerfire rounds you can buy, the difference in the price of reloading .45acp versus buying 9mm in bulk isn't enough to worry about. Certainly not enough to force you into a particular gun purchase...

Reloading 45 cuts the advantage of 9mm cost savings quite a bit.

I would get the Mp45. its a kick *** gun. I love mine.

I have'nt shot the 45 yet, but they are really nice guns.. Someone was telling me the 9cal are a hard round to reload because of size. I really like the grips, my hand really like s the feel of them. Hard to find grips that feel rt. Leaning kind of toward the M&P 9 tatical for sight radius and the way it shoots. Use the M&P 9 cal for IDPA . Then work on my SA 1911 for other platforms. Maybe get the M&P 45 ACP as well.
I also shoot revolver Ruger GP 100 4'. S&P revolvers are great guns as well. I wish I owned a bank.
Thanks for responses

IMO there is no such thing as cheap factory ammo. I pay about $5.50 to $7.00 a box for handgun ammo by reloading. The price will go up a bit when I have to buy components again. :D I bought some Winchester 357 Sig and am still in sticker shock. I have searched the internet for discount prices on ammo but have never seen anything reasonable. :o Well, what I thought was reasonable.

What is hard about reloading 9mm? I have loaded them for several years and will admit they have some unique problems. :o But nothing that can not be solved. :) I started loading 9mm when they jumped from $7 per box case price to $14.95 a box at Dick's. :(

I also reload for 45 acp and 40 S&W, 38 and 357 and others. :D Adding a different caliber is not a problem. (Like 357 sig. Did I mention the cost was shocking  )

I have the M&P 9 Pro in 9mm and recentlty purchased the ful;l size M&P45. I was pleasantly surprised by the accuracy of my M&P45 - 1 1/4 to 2 inch tenshot groups at 50 ft. with a wide variety of reloads. It fed with total reliability everything from 185 gr. LSWC to 230 gr. FMJ's.
I also shoot 1911's in both 9mm and 45 ACP - that type of reliability nin a 1911 is not as easilly attained.

Try Georgia Arms 'Canned Heat' for bulk buys. I just ordered 500 rounds of .40 S&W for $154 shipped and it is new ammo, not reloads.

Thanks for all your postive response, I posted in a diffrent area SD was not to positive. I going to get the MP P 9. I really like it worked for me. No ammo is cheap. I do plan on reloading the 9 cal. just need to get the dies. This will be a fun gun to shoot.
I also like my SA 1911 so there no need to get a another 45 acp.
Thanks Again

The 9x19 is an easy round to load - for of data and components available. But you do have to be careful since it is operating at rather high pressure. The higher the standard operating pressure, the less room you have before an error turns into a catastrophe. But any experienced, careful reloader should be able to make good 9mm handloads.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy either the M&P9 or M&P45, but since you already have a .45, the 9mm sounds like it would add some flexibility to your shooting.

As to the bank thing, all you would have is the government telling you how to run your business, requiring 10x more paperwork than you already need. And we all know how good of a job the government does of managing money and paperwork. I think I'd pass on that owning a bank thing. :D
