I've recently purchased an M&P Shield 9mm 2.0 (w/ Crimson Trace). I've already swapped out the trigger with the APEX Tactical (doesn't come in red yet though), purchased extra mags (8 in total... for the range), some mag extenders (Taran, Hyve, high cap springs, pinky extender thingy) and optical/night sights.

I'm wanting to get the slide ported, but not quite sure what I want, as I don't see many different design ideas out there... not to mention the limited amount of space on the slide to port.

I'm looking for some ideas on porting. Asking you guys and gals to post pictures of anything they've got ported on their M&P Shield. I don't think there would be any difference between the original Shield and the 2.0, so anything you've got, as long as it's a Shield, would be great.

Thanks all,
Dave

I have a PC Shield and love it. That said, there can be some possible negatives to the porting. Far dirtier obviously after a bunch of rounds, and there are some ammo manufacturers that state not to use their ammo in a ported barrel. For what that is worth.

As for flash, sure mine has some i can notice in a darker indoor range, can also vary by ammo used. But it isn't enough to bother me, let alone worry about. And range officers who've watched me say the same.

I dont have a std Shield to compare muzzle flip, but have had shooters who tried my PC say they noticed a minimal improvement with my ported version.

Just my .02

There is definitely a difference between the PC and standard. The difference is in the ported barrel, however. Port the slide in and of itself, while it would be nice to look at, won't do much.

My Bill Drill times and groups are tighter with my PC Shield... than my old Standard Shield and even my larger pistols.

I only see the "flash" at indoor ranges where it's dimly lit. You can see it in this video shooting in broad daylight.

Here's a google search that might help.

The ported barrel makes things dirty, as previously mentioned.. Any lube on the barrel gets bone dry after a few mags.
