M&P 9 Tactical

So I ran into a sale price on the M&P 9 tac. I cannot find these listed on the S&W web site or really much on the web about them at all.

From what I can tell it's a standard full size M&P with a threaded 5" barrel and night sights. I asked several times whether it came with the standard 4.25" barrel as well and was told "no".

Does anyone know anything about this model, whether it is current or discontinued?

Two miles down the road I can get a standard M&P 9 for $449. Not sure it's what I want, but it definitely got my attention.

I may be confused, but I think the tac has a threaded 5" barrel so you can screw on a suppressor.

My LGS has an M&P 9mm Tactical in stock (I checked it out yesterday). The one he had came with both a stock barrel and an extended threaded barrel w/ a thread protector. Not sure if that's the norm or not. S&W has a tendency to throw these kits together as marketing gimmicks.
