Im from Communist California and Gov. Jerry Brown just signed into law that prohibits buying off roster handguns through the single shot exempt process. I have been trying to get an M&P 9 VTAC for the longest time with no success. My ffl told me that the M&P 9 VTACs are being allocated to fullfil a large order. My question is who are they being allocated to? I was told it will be many more months before I can get one.

From my understanding, the SSE is not going away until next year January. So you still have 5 SSE transactions till then.

If you're in SoCal, hit up Jaime & Sandra who specializes in SSE and actually has a vtac in stock.

Look up their full list of stock in Calguns.

Yes I am aware that the law won't be in effect till Jan 1st 2015. I just checked their updated list and just as I thought it is the m&p 40 vtac which I ready have. The vtac 9 is impossible to find in Cali.
Thanks

I only know a couple of guys with M&P VTAC's, both 9mm's, but both guys carry badges and bought them through dealers specializing in LE sales. Even so, both guys had to wait for some time before guns were available. One of them said it was several months. Must've been the wrong timing relative to a short production run being done.

I've handled and shot both of the VTAC 9's, and both seem like decent examples of the M&P model line.

I rather like the PVD finish (for its color), myself, but the sights are a bit "busy" for my preference. I'd not mind seeing a PVD finish offered on a standard M&P or Shield.

True, can't locate a VTAC in 9mm. Only the Pro and of course the standard model...

I just handled and tried out a brand new Pro 5" 9mm.

Mild felt recoil. Excellent balance. Great trigger.

If I were still accumulating fun/leisure range guns, it would certainly attract my interest. ;)

VTAC9

Sharpshooter76, I can totally see where you're coming from. I searched for my S&W M&P 9 VTAC for awhile but I finally found new one (didn't want it used) a couple months ago. It is my favorite sidearm by far and I love it to death. I have heard of people shooting 9mm out of the .40's but I've moved away from .40. Thankfully the dealer that I bought my VTAC from had two: one in .40 that his son in law wanted and the 9mm which I wanted and bought, so I got lucky. I've looked around but haven't been able to find any new online. You might need to make a few phone calls if you haven't found one already.

Pistol: S&W M&P 9mm VTAC (Manufactured Oct. 2013)
Grip: Hogue M&P Backstrap Grip (Olive Drab)
Holster: Bravo Concealment RTT Holster and Mag Pouch (FDE)

Yeah I may have to get one of those pro series m&p's. I bet they are sweet. My friend and I are basicly on the waiting list now for a vtac 9 but I'm not going to hold my breath. I do realize that I can swap out barrels on my 40 to 9mm or .357 sig but I just want to have the vtac 9 in my collection. The vtacs just look so awesome.

VTAC

Ah, I see. I love the sights on the VTACs but there are plenty of others that disagree and replace the sights which make up a large portion of the price of the firearm when you see what the sights alone cost. But it's a great firearm as far as I am concerned.
