I have one I just traded into and have not had one before. How does having a mag. disconnect affect trigger pull or accuracy? Anyone tried to take one out?

Thanks,
Chris

All of my M&P's have mag disconnects by design. It's a good feature to have if you know what you're doing and train with it. Most mall ninjas hate them (because the internet old them to) and some skilled and unskilled shooters just prefer their guns without. Really just comes down to purpose and preference.

One place you clearly don't want the mag disconnect is in competition, but only because of the awkward process of clearing the gun and then having to insert an empty mag to do the required hammer drop.

I got literally tackled by an RO in USPSA who obviously thought everybody should shoot 1911s and never heard of a mag disconnect on a Browning High Power.

When clearing a gun with a mag disconnect, be sure to drop the mag, then clear the chamber, then use an empty mag to drop the hammer.
A friend put an empty mag into his gun and killed his washer with the cartridge that had been left in the chamber.

Chris:

You will need an 1/8" roll pin punch.... You can fake the spring - all it actually does is work as a spacer to keep the sear block (disassembly block) from flopping around. I've never tried it, but you probably could cut up a ballpoint pen spring....
