Can I swap my 9mm barrel to a 40 barrel in my m&p 9 without any upgrades?

the only way you can change a M&P 9 to shoot 40, is to replace the entire slide and barrel and mags, as far as i know. not sure if you can use the same spring.

there also is no conversion barrel for such a change.

that's why many of us buy the 40FS, instead of the 9FS.

The .40 barrel does not fit the 9mm slide.
There are some people who say you can remove metal and make it work, but I have not seen a working "reverse caliber change" on an M&P.

The 9mm barrel is a loose fit in the .40 slide, and seems to work well enough in practice.

While it does require some filing and modification, there are numerous successful .40 barrel -->9mm frame conversions and they are well documented in this very forum.

While going from a .40 frame and adding a 9mm barrel is fairly easy and pretty common, the other way around is not for the faint of heart, but it's not that hard either, given time, knowledge, and patience.

Looks like it'll be easier & close to same price to buy one instead thanks for all your advice
